"It's A Life Skill": Dad Gets Slammed For Teaching His Teen Daughter How To Gut Fish

Leona Martinez

Teaching life skills is good; however, forcing someone to do something they are uncomfortable with is not the best approach. Like the man in the story below, he forced his teenage daughter to learn how to gut fish, as he claimed: "It's an important life skill," while she didn't like it. It may be better to give the daughter the option to decline. If she is interested, it can be a valuable learning experience. However, if she is not comfortable with it, forcing her could lead to resentment and negative feelings towards the activity.

Many people didn't agree with this father. One of them said, "By all means, if she wants to know how to gut a fish, teach her. But forcing her makes you the a***hole." Another user added, "The life skill your daughter learned is that you won’t listen to her." Scroll down below to read the whole story and other people's opinions.
