"Heroes Don't Retire," Says Arnold Schwarzenegger In Tribute To Clint Eastwood, A "Legend" Turning 93

The two Hollywood stars have been friends for decades, and in 2006, then-Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger presented Dirty Harry with the first-ever California Hall of Fame award. In a 2013 interview, he even called Eastwood his idol, saying that he always likes to learn from his long-time friend.

Lately, the multi-award-winning actor, best known for “Rawhide” and “Dirty Harry”, celebrated his 93rd birthday on May 31. And Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't miss the chance to horror his long-decade friend, writing on Instagram"You’ve inspired me, you’ve mentored me, and you’re a wonderful friend."

Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger's friend and mentor, is being honored. Schwarzenegger, 75, posted a picture of himself skiing with Eastwood on Instagram on his 93rd birthday on Wednesday. (He posted a version of this image in December 2019 along with the caption, "Name a more iconic duo. I'll hold off.

In the caption, Schwarzenegger wrote, "Happy birthday, Clint! You’ve inspired me, you’ve mentored me, and you’re a wonderful friend."

"At 93, you prove that heroes don’t retire - they reload. You’re a legend," he added.

In addition to directing and starring in the upcoming movie Juror #2, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, and Kiefer Sutherland, Eastwood most recently directed and produced the 2021 film Cry Macho.

He said to the Los Angeles Times in 2021 about whether he'd keep acting, "What the hell am I still working for in my 90s? Are people going to start throwing tomatoes at you? I’ve gotten to the point where I wondered if that was enough, but not to the point where I decided it was. If you roll out a few turkeys, they’ll tell you soon enough."

When speaking about directing at the time, Eastwood said, "If something comes along where the story itself, the telling of it, is fun, I’m open to it. ... The whole point of directing was something you can do as an older guy."

Schwarzenegger previously admitted to Reuters in 2013 that Eastwood "is a big idol of mine and I always like to learn from him."
