Get ready to meet a special kitty named Milly, who's had quite the journey to happiness.
Milly came into the world with some unique health issues: a big head (hydrocephalus), a wonky front leg (radial aplasia), and a little overbite. Because of her condition, she became known as the 'Helmet Queen' due to her need for a special helmet and a soft, cushioned space to keep her safe.
However, Milly is the sweetest and most cuddly cat you'll ever meet.
Her foster mom, Caroline, loves her, and she always says that she's the kitty who is full of affection and happiness. Milly's charm can brighten the lives of everyone around her.
“I wish everyone could meet Milly! She’s so special, and she literally radiates love and joy. She loves everyone and wears her heart on her sleeve,” shared Caroline.
Most kittens with health issues like hers face an uphill battle, but Milly's a fighter.
Everyone who met Milly immediately fell in love with her and wanted to help her at any price.
The team at Baby Kitten Rescue was determined to give her a shot at a happy, healthy life, making it clear that her life mattered and that she deserved a chance to live to the fullest.
“This is by far the most expensive surgery we’ve ever provided. But Milly is worth it. Her life matters. And she has the chance to live a full, healthy, and happy life if she gets this surgery! So we are going to give her that chance.”
And guess what? The risky brain surgery was a success! Thanks to the skilled vet team, Milly pulled through without a hitch, marking an incredible victory. The team couldn't be happier for kitties like Milly who now have a fighting chance against hydrocephalus.
“I’m SO grateful Milly had the opportunity to receive this surgery!!! Up until very recently, hydrocephalus was a death sentence for cats and dogs. But thanks to progressive veterinarians like Dr. O’Neill at Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital, kitties like Milly now have the chance at living a full, healthy, and happy life with shunt surgery!”
Of course, her journey didn't end with surgery.
Milly faced a long, gradual recovery process. But she proved herself to be quite the fighter and continued to amaze everyone with her progress. Her medications, which had helped manage her hydrocephalus, were gradually reduced post-surgery.
After this life-changing surgery, Milly not only got a second chance at life but also found her forever home with a fantastic, loving couple. She's now the queen of her castle, soaking up all the love and attention she deserves.
“Milly was adopted by the most amazing couple. She will be the queen of her home, like she wants and deserves. Her mommy & daddy work from home most of the time, so she will get all the snuggles and attention she could ever want.”
