Nature is a mysterious universe that humans can never stop admiring while delving deeper into it. This planet has allowed thousands of creatures to be born and thrived, and each species stands out with its unique beauty. Among all kinds of amazing animals, birds may be the most gorgeous group with diverse shapes, sizes, and colors.
It’s such a shame since these days, residents in most areas of the world don’t have a chance to observe the wonderful birds with their exceptionally vibrant appearances. Apparently, flocks of birds flying through our neighborhood seem to be part of the past. The main reason for this is urbanization, which results in a vast majority of the world’s population living in cities and urban regions. When concrete jungles are built and green trees are replaced by skyscrapers, birds lose their natural habitats. Consequently, many bird species have become extinct, and the number shows no sign of declining. Most of those that are able to survive have to struggle to keep their population stable. Sadly, however, more and more bird species have been listed as threatened and endangered.
That’s why many photography contests are organized to appreciate this stunning creature and raise public awareness about conservation. A recent competition was the BirdLife Australia Photography Awards in 2022, which celebrated the life of birds and raised funds for bird protection programs. The contest has attracted photographers around the world and received over 5,600 images.
