Forest Camera Captures The First Howls Of An Adorable Wolf Cub, And It’s The Best Sound We've Ever Heard

Carolyn Mullet

Wolves are beautiful animals with a sadly maligned reputation. In fact, they can be a pleasant surprise. Wolf pups begin howling as early as three to four weeks old. As they get older, they learn to use their howls to coordinate with other pack members. This tiny cub is no exclusion, but his first voice practice racked up a handful of hearts.

The Voyageurs Wolf Project, a program to study the behavior of wolves in northern Minnesota, installed trail cameras in the woods. One of them captured the cutest moment of a four-week-old wolf pup howling for the first time.

The little furry pal roamed back and forth in front of the camera and raised his voice. However, he didn't howl continuously but stopped once or twice and howled again. Either he was learning step by step or he was calling for assistance

Perhaps he stopped, then jumped up and ran off wagging because he waited for and heard an answer. He might have just lost his way while playing. Other wolves' sounds were recorded too, so maybe they were checking on each other. Anyway, he was a bit too loud for a one-month-old cub.

The footage was uploaded on the group's Youtube channel and reached 1.5 million views. Everyone feels enthusiastic and wants to encourage the cub. Hopefully, he will grow up and vibrate the air with his powerful voice.
