#1. Butterbeer (Harry Potter Series)
Butterbeer is a (sort of) fictional beverage that Harry Potter characters drink when they visit "The Three Broomsticks" and "Hog's Head Pub." Nobody is exactly sure what is in the Harry Potter butterbeer, which is hazily described in the books, but it is assumed that it is a non-alcoholic version of buttered beer.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
- ½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
- ½ tablespoon butter heavy cream (optional)
- Mugs (Click here for the glass mugs in the pictures)
How to make Butterbeer:
- Step 1: Let your butter be softened first.
- Step 2: Then pour the butterscotch syrup into a bowl. Butterscotch is the main flavor of butterbeer.
- Step 3: Mix in the softened butter. Some recipes call for butter extract, but we prefer the creamy flavor of real butter.
- Step 4: After that, combine the syrup and butter.
- Step 5: Pour in the cream soda and stir well.
- Step 6: Set aside.
- Step 7: In a separate mixing bowl, whip heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form. It will take a hot minute by hand but will go much faster with a stand mixer. Don't overwhip or you'll end up with fresh butter.
- Step 8: Pour the cream soda-butterscotch mixture into two clear mugs and top with a dollop or two of whipped cream.
#2. Chocolate Frogs (Harry Potter Series)
Following the Harry Potter theme, we introduce the Chocolate Frog which is the best gift for a Harry Potter fan’s birthday party.
Ingredients.
- 1 bag of chocolate candy melts: We purchased what we required at Michael's, but you could use these candy melts, too.
- Silicone frog candy molds: We purchased this set from Amazon. We're thinking about making Jello jiggler frogs or frog ice cubes with the set as well. So fun!
- Filling mix-ins (Optional): Chopped pecans, caramel sauce, crushed heath bar candies, mini marshmallows
How to make Chocolate Frogs: before you begin, place the clean and absolutely dry, silicone molds on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 1: Melt the chocolate: Put the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 1 minute on 50% power. Using a spatula, mix the candy wafers. Return the bowl to the microwave and heat for another 30 seconds. Stir vigorously after each turn in the microwave. You do not want to overheat the chocolate. With stirring, it will melt and become smooth.
- Step 2: Line the mold: Add a dollop of melted chocolate to the first frog well with a small spoon. Using the tip and edges of the spoon, nudge the chocolate all around the bottom and edges of the shape. This is how you make the top of your chocolate frog. The toes, tail, nose, sides, and other small details should all be covered in chocolate. However, the well should only be about 13 full of chocolate to allow for fillings.
- Step 3: Add the fillings: Fillings should be sprinkled in and gently pressed into the chocolate, but not so hard that they push through to the very bottom of the mold. The fillings should not extend beyond the top surface of the mold; you want enough space to add the top layer of chocolate.
- Step 4: Seal the frogs: Add a final dollop of chocolate to the mold with your spoon. Gently nudge the chocolate all over the top of your fillings, making sure to cover the entire well from end to end.
#3. Krabby Patties (SpongeBob SquarePants)
Krabby Patties are a fictional food item from the popular animated television show "SpongeBob SquarePants."
Ingredients:
BURGER PATTIES
- 1 1/3 lb. ground beef (80 percent lean)
- 2 tsp. Old Bay seasoning 1 tsp. Black pepper
- 1 tsp. Sea salt 4 slices cheddar cheese
- KING NEPTUNE’S POSEIDON POWDER AIOLI
- 1/2 c. mayonnaise
- 1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
SANDWICH
- 4 sesame seed buns, sliced in half ketchup mustard
- 1 jar dill pickle slices
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4 leaves of butter lettuce
How to make Krabby Patties:
- Step 1: Make the Burger Patties: Heat a grill pan or sauté pan over medium heat. As it heats, combine the ground beef, Old Bay, pepper, and salt. Form into four equal-sized patties, about 1/3 lb each. Place on a platter next to the stovetop. Coat the warmed grill pan with cooking spray and place the patties on it, cooking each side for about 4-5 minutes, or until cooked through to your desired doneness.
- Step 2: Cut each cheese slice into a star shape with a large star-shaped cookie cutter. Place the star-shaped cheese on each burger patty in the last 30 seconds of cooking, allowing it to melt slightly. Set aside the burger patties.
- Step 3 Make King Neptune’s Poseidon Powder Aioli: Combine mayonnaise and Old Bay in a mixing bowl.
- Step 4: Assemble the Sandwich: Poseidon Powder Aioli should be spread on the bottom of each bun. Burger patty, ketchup, mustard, pickles, onion slices, tomato, and lettuce on top. Top each burger with the top bun. Serve.
#4. Everlasting Gobstopper (Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory)
If you are a fan of classic Willy Wonka, you'll recognize the shape of an Everlasting Gobstopper right away. It has a unique shape with protruding pyramid-shaped spikes.
Ingredients:(for each batch)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup Flavoring Food Coloring confectionary sugar cooking spray
How to make Everlasting Gobstopper:
- Step 1: Start with a mixture of sugar, water, and light corn syrup in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Step 2: Stir constantly over high heat until all of the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is clear. Then, after a few minutes of stirring, add a candy thermometer.
- Step 3: Prepare your pyramid mold by spraying it with cooking spray and lightly coating it with confectionary sugar while your liquid heats up.
- Step 4: Turn off the heat and remove the thermometer when the temperature reaches 305 degrees F. Stir in the food coloring and flavoring.
- Step 5: Pour this evenly over your mold and remove any excess with an offset spatula. Allow to harden before removing from the mold.
- Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 a total of 5 times.
- Step 7: Then make one more batch, but do not pour it into the mold. The gobstoppers can be put together using this as glue.
- Step 8: Dip a popsicle stick in the last batch and place it on top of one of your pyramid-shaped candies. Attach another piece of candy to it. When doing this, it is best to use alternating colors. Work quickly because your glue will harden quickly. You're finished when you've covered all sides.
#5. $5 Milkshake (Pulp Fiction)
If you asked us to pay $5 for a vanilla milkshake, we'd have to think about it. No, it's more like £6.36 if we account for inflation since 1994 (when Pulp Fiction was made) and current exchange rates.
Ingredients: Prep time: 10 minutes + overnight
- 1 vanilla pod 500ml Jersey whole milk
- 100ml double cream
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 200g good quality vanilla ice cream Squirty whipped cream and a maraschino cherry to serve
How to make a $5 Milkshake:
- Step 1: Split the vanilla pod in half and scrape out the seeds. Refrigerate the seeds, pod, cream, and milk overnight in a jar. This will allow the vanilla flavor to permeate the milk.
- Step 2: Remove the vanilla pod and pour the vanilla milk into a blender after 12 hours or more. Blend in the ice cream and maple syrup until thick and completely smooth. Don't throw out that vanilla pod! Put it in your sugar pot for a few days and you'll have vanilla sugar.
- Step 3: Strain into glasses. Finish with a squirt of cream and a maraschino cherry on top.
