Most people tend to avoid people who seem dangerous or act strangely. However, one young girl was lucky because a 17-year-old boy reacted differently when he noticed something unusual about a man.
Cameron Cook and his mom were shopping at Target when they noticed a little girl with a strange man who was getting too close to her.
Heather, Cameron's mom, was busy shopping and wanted to keep moving, but Cameron insisted they stop and check things out because something didn't seem right.
Cameron confronted the man and asked him if he knew the little girl.
The man, who seemed surprised, kept saying he wasn't a pervert, repeating it many times.
Cameron stayed determined and told the man he hadn't answered the question. He kept asking until the man got scared and ran out of the store. Thanks to 17-year-old Cameron's bravery, the little girl will never know how close she was to danger.
Police in Boston, where this happened, say parents should always watch their young kids in public places.
Cameron wants no praise for his actions, only to inspire others to step in when they feel that something is not right.
He told the Boston's press,
“Anybody should just have the courage to stand up. It’s not even about courage, it’s just being a person, a human – anyone can step up and do something like that."
Thank goodness Cameron keeps this little girl safe! And for his courageous efforts to protect a young girl from harm, Cameron Cook received @MAStateLottery #HeroAmongUs honors!
