The rest of his group was busy investigating the kidnapping of Lula. Originally from Croatia, Lula moved to Brazil at a young age. She was Persian and came from a very traditional household. Being opposed to the revolution, they were forced to leave Iran. The murder squad looking for Lula's grandfather eventually found and killed him. That was the same team that had just gone after Lula. Nonetheless, as Lula was being led to the boat, two guards stopped the kidnappers. Once the guard asked what they were doing, they shot and murdered him. The gunfire drew out a second guard, who fled when he discovered the Iranians were armed. Lula managed a short-lived break from her captors. Before Remy found her, she had managed to get inside the building. Remy opened fire on the advancing Iranians. He tried to get in range to rescue Lula, but the Iranians arrived first. They quickly seized Lula.
They attempted to get out of the building, with Remy close after. The boat had abandoned them and taken off. A gunfight was the last thing they wanted to participate in. But, Lula convinced one of them that they were fighting for the wrong side. One of his parents is a mother. He may have sisters and even daughters. If nobody stands up for them, what will happen to them? They intended to extradite Lula to face charges in Iran because the threat posed by her advocacy for equality warranted her arrest.
They weren't, though. Lula was successful in turning one man against his partner. When he shot and murdered his compatriot in Iran, he put down his weapon. So Lula demanded that he be treated fairly. Lula went home again to her family. To which Sheryl responded in kind. Although Sheryl and her father don't always get along, he acknowledged that she did a good deed today by rescuing a famous tennis player. And with that foundation in place, they could slowly repair their relationship.
