Dog Who’s Never Been Inside Takes Her First Nap In A Real Bed

Emma Ackerman

animals surely deserve love, care, and a warm spot in a cozy home, right? Sadly, many pets are still out there, roaming without a safe place to rest and enjoy a meal. Sundae happened to be one of those unfortunate souls. Throughout her life, all she ever experienced was a cluttered backyard and a chilly garage.

Sundae, the coonhound/Labrador retriever mix, was saved from a tough spot in Oklahoma City by a group called Country Roads Animal Rescue Society. She had never lived inside a home before, even though she had given birth to puppies. That is, until her foster mom changed everything for her.

When Sundae got to her foster home, she finally learned what it felt like to have a comfy bed. You could see the relief on her face when she lay down; it was like she finally felt safe.

Sundae’s foster mom, who goes by Mugglequeen on Reddit, said that Sundae has been with them for about a week. You wouldn’t even guess that she had never been inside before. She knows how to use the potty, she’s really gentle, and she behaves well inside.

Mugglequeen named her Sundae because of the colors on her face—they remind her of a sundae with chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. At first, Sundae was a bit scared of guys. But when her foster mom left her boyfriend's shorts on the bed, Sundae got more comfortable around him.

Now, Sundae is a super affectionate girl. She loves cuddling with her foster mom all the time. She wants to be close, and she even sleeps right beside her in bed. Mugglequeen thinks she’s making up for not getting much love before.

“I think she’s just making up for eight-ish years of zero affection,” said Mugglequeen.

Sundae hadn’t gotten proper medical care for a long time, but things are better now. The vet found that she has heartworms and needs some help with her teeth, but otherwise, she’s healthy. Besides, it's wonderful to hear that her puppies are now being cared for by other foster families. And Sundae’s job now is to wait for the perfect family to come and fall in love with her.

Mugglequeen hopes that the right family will come along soon. She thinks that they should have a calm lifestyle and lots of patience. Sundae needs time to feel comfortable and confident. Until then, Mugglequeen will take care of her and make sure she’s ready for her forever family.

So, let's hope that Sundae finds her special family soon, someone who will love her for who she is and give her all the warmth and snuggles she's been missing out on.
