The Star Wars narrative will continue with three all-new movies, according to Lucasfilm. In one of the films, Daisy Ridley, 33, will reprise her role as Jedi hero Rey at a different point in the Star Wars universe. The actress made her film debut in The Force Awakens in 2015, then starred in The Last Jedi in 2017 before ending out her story in The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. The hero, now a master, will be creating a new Jedi order in the film, which will take place 15 years later.
Rey's narrative will be directed by Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it was announced during the Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London on Friday. Before unveiling Daisy to the audience, the filmmaker took to the stage and stated, "I've always been drawn to the hero's journey and the idea that the world needs many more heroes." She also revealed she has been working with "a formidable Jedi master."
"My heart is pounding, I'm very thrilled to be continuing this journey"
The other two films will be directed by David Filoni of The Mandalorian and James Mangold, who recently wrapped up the most recent Indiana Jones adventure. The narrative of Mangold's film is believed to begin at the "dawn of the Jedi," whereas Filoni's film picks up after The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. Daisy looked stunning at the London celebrations in a crimson-fitting dress with a huge bow on one shoulder and a nipped-in waist.
She wore a pair of revealing stilettos to increase her height and pulled her black hair back into a tidy updo. In 2015, she made her series debut as Rey alongside veteran actors Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher as well as up-and-coming actors John Boyega and Adam Driver.
Rey visited Luke Skywalker's abandoned farmstead to bury Luke's (Mark Hamill) and Leia's (Carrie) lightsabers as the trilogy came to an end in 2019. Daisy gave a response when asked if she would be interested in playing the same part in the sweeping space opera series earlier this year. The actresses, who each closed out their own character arcs in the movies, appeared alongside Emilia Clarke at the Sundance Film Festival.
Ridley had a different response when she said she would absolutely consider going back, unlike Clarke, who responded with a swift "no". In Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), Clarke portrayed Qi'ra, Han Solo's childhood friend and love interest.
