It is believed that a movie star just needs to have a bit of luck and memorize the lines to fulfill a role. However, acting is not easy as we imagined. It is a job that requires incredible amounts of skills and dedication. If an actor wants to deliver lines smoothly, it’ll take hours to practice.
On the other hand, if the actor desires to immerse themselves into the character, in some cases, they force to wear some heavy make-up, or prosthesis or gain/drop extreme weight.
Despite the fact that the sacrifice may earn them some prestigious awards, many actors are so tired of the way they have to transform their appearance for a movie role.
We’ve compiled some big names. If you’re curious about them, scroll down to see.
#1. Chris Evans
For his portrayal of Steve Rogers in the Captain America and Avengers films, Chris Evans forcibly bulked up, putting on 20-30 pounds of muscle. However, he needn’t do that after the first film wrapped.
He said, “Oh my god, when shooting was done, I just stopped going to the gym completely for about three months,… Every time people see me, they’re like, ‘You ok? You lost a little bit of weight,’”
#2. Kit Harington
During playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, Kit Harington was forced to keep his lock long and curly. He couldn’t wait to cut it when the series finished.
He said, “I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do some other things with a completely new look and tone,… I can’t go into my next role looking the same. This role was brilliant, but I’ll need to get rid of Jon Snow.
#3. Emma Watson
During the filming of Harry Potter, Emma Watson had to keep long brown hair. According to the contract, she couldn’t cut her hair or tan. As the series came to an end, she immediately cut her long locks into a short pixie cut.
She told Marie Claire, “I’ve wanted to do it since I was about 16, and when Harry Potter ended in June, I just needed a change,... It was quite symbolic for me. It’s very short; it was buzzed at the back and on the sides. And it’s really liberating that I can walk out without thinking about it.”
#4. Tom Felton
Tom Felton was extremely happy when the filming of Harry Potter finished. It was because he was obligated to blanch his hair constantly and stay out of the sun.
He said, “I certainly haven't had much freedom to keep my own hair color, or lay in the sun,… It was nice to go on holiday and not have to slap on the SPF50 and sit under an umbrella with three caps on.”

Anna Paquin had to keep her blonde hair for seven seasons of True Blood. After she finished her work in the movie, she dyed her hair shades of blue and purple.

Like Josh Hutcherson, Miley Cyrus is also a natural brunette. Because she wanted to keep her natural color, she wore a blond wig for her scenes as Hannah. When the series ended, Miley had opted for a short long bob. Soon after, she bleached it and that summer, she cut it into her famous pixie cut.
#8. Mila Kunis
For her role as a professional ballerina in Black Swan, the actress had to lose a significant amount of weight. She trained four hours a day, seven days a week for seven months, with only one and a half days off. She ended up losing 20 lbs.
After filming, she immediately stopped this routine and it only took five days to gain back her weight.
#9. Zooey Deschanel
The actress rocked long hair for years for her role in New Girl. She admitted she wanted a bob instead, “If I could cut my hair today, I totally would,”
Just weeks after the movie came to an end, Deschanel shared a photo of her new bob.
#10. Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester was forced to keep her hair long and brow for the whole time filming Gossip Girl. After filming, she unhesitatingly chopped off her hair. She said, “My long, wavy hair got a lot of mileage, so it was time for a change.”
#11. Robert Pattinson
The Twilight star hated growing a beard for multiple roles in his career. One of his beards that shocked fans is his one for Lost City of Z. So, after filming wrapped he ditched it.
