9 Times Actors Had To Go Through Hell On The Set

There are numerous challenging situations that an actor may face throughout their career. On occasion, directors will make peculiar requests of the actors, such as prohibiting them from drinking bottled water while they are working, and at other times, they may have to deal with unpleasant animal coworkers
. When attempting to get into character, certain actors and actresses make things harder for themselves. Listed below are several movies and television shows that have subjected their performers to more than they may have been prepared for in their roles.

1. Matt Damon - Elysium

The movie, set in a future where Earth is a slum, was shot at a waste near Mexico City. Since there was so much filth, the odor was really repulsive. Masks allowed the crew to avoid it, but actor Matt Damon was subjected to the "clean air."

2. Liam Hemsworth - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

It wasn't easy for the performers to spend three weeks filming in the sewers. With great empathy, Jennifer Lawrence remembered her shooting colleague Liam Hemsworth's experience in the tunnels.

3. Phoebe Dynevor - Bridgerton

Phoebe Dynevor, the actress, was apprehensive about her dancing scenes. She worked with a choreographer for six weeks, but the resulting dance sequences were challenging to film. In several scenes, the players had to carry on discussions while dancing, which is much harder than it seems. Those moments were the most exciting and terrifying for Dynevor.

4. Jenna Ortega - Wednesday

Audiences probably didn't realize how challenging it was for Jenna Ortega to work with the notoriously picky Tim Burton when deciding on a hairdo for her character. The process of selecting the appropriate braids took him three hours. For the last touch, Burton combed the actress's fringes into place. Also, Jenna studied German, learned to fence, shoot an arrow, play the cello, and more in preparation for her part on Wednesday.

5. John Cena - The Suicide Squad

There's a scene when John Cena's character is seen eating an empanada. There wasn't a perfect method to record this instant. 31 takes were used, with the actor consuming a full empanada throughout each take. After the shot, he waddled around like a penguin as he admitted himself.

6. Salma Hayek - House of Gucci

It turns out that Salma Hayek's mud bath was the best part of the movie. She fought valiantly against the muck but ultimately gave up. For Hayek, this was the most trying situation she had ever encountered.

7. Chris Hemsworth - In the Heart of the Sea

Actors in this film had to undergo extensive weight loss and continued physical training and diet monitoring during production. The celebrities, including Chris Hemsworth, limited their caloric intake to just 500 per day.

The director banned disposable water bottles in production because they ran counter to the film's message of environmental preservation. This resulted in a bad experience for Emma Watson, who sipped from a mug of water sitting in her trailer for nearly three months and promptly became sick. She wasn't allowed to take a break, and the director even recommended she incorporate her emotions into her performance.

In preparation for the part, Emily Blunt donned a corset, which she described as an "oven for her organs." Since filming took place in Spain during the heat, the actress claims it was really uncomfortable.
