They offered him a cameo role on the program, but he had to decline it owing to stringent schedule while filming another movie. Rhaegar Targaryen, the brother of Daenerys Targaryen and the true father of Jon Snow, reportedly offered Hunnam the part.

Producers reportedly considered around 5,000 individuals for the role of a well-known bisexual computer hacker. Even Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart were considered for the auditions.
