Woman Discovers Furry 'Clump' In The Road And Jumps To Help Them

Carolyn Mullet

When Natalie Therese and her partner drove home from a B&B near the Columbia River in Washington, they noticed a sizable clump of fur hidden in the fog.
After being startled, Therese felt that they needed to stop. “[I] yelled to watch out and pull over,” Therese shared.
Her attention was drawn to them as she got closer - three baby otters stranded by the side of the road.

“My partner thought [they were] just a clump of dirt or something!” Therese added.
Only after putting the pieces together did Therese realize she had seen the otter's mother run from an oncoming car. Having no idea what to do, the babies stood in the street cowering. In the nearby woods, their scared mother watched from afar.
The shivering babies were pointing to be frightened, so Therese decided to help them get back to safety.

Therese shared that her gentle encouragement helped them get off the road. She waited to ensure that everyone understood what to do before leading them toward their mother.

Therese recalled that she stayed beside the car till the mother got out, and all three babies ran off the road together. Then, she continued to wait for a few minutes to ensure they wouldn't retreat to the road.

An Instagram user also shared their thought, "So touching. We are one. When we take time to care for one another and connect with Mother Nature - we are all in a better place. Thank you for watching over these little creatures."
Others considered Therese to be an angel for saving the otters, they were just so heartbroken and the innocence of animals, that otters were just hanging out in the middle of the street with no idea of the danger they were in.  Community members are so glad that Therese came across the otters' life.
