Many people consider their pets as their babies, so they try to give them the best things. Some even throw their fur children a birthday party and give them myriad gifts. Nonetheless, expecting others to buy presents for the pets is a strange idea.

Posting on a social media site, a woman informed of her dog’s birthday as if it was an important occasion that everybody should know about: "Just so everyone knows, Leaf's birthday is on Saturday and he is accepting gifts.’’

The announcement was followed by an “absurd” list of gifts that were acceptable and not. The poster also added that she preferred cash as she could use the money to buy what the dog needed: “No treats, no rope toys, no plastic toys. You can buy him stuffed animals though, preferably not the ones with plastic eyes, or just send him money and I'll buy toys for him."

The woman's “ridiculous” requirements have evoked strong public disapproval. Many netizens criticized her “entitled” manner, while some doubted whether or not she would spend the money on her dog.

Under the post, a user left a sarcastic comment that they regretted not thinking of the woman's idea before: "Damn, I have two dogs. I have never thought of doing this. I have really let some potential cash slip through the cracks over the years!"

Another commenter added: "She made such an extreme list so people will give her cash to make it easy which she will then spend on herself."
A person pointed out that the gift list was understandable, but no one needed to know about that apart from herself: "I can see where she’s coming from. Dogs love to rip apart toys and eat pieces that can get stuck in their digestive system and then they need surgery to get it out. But who expects someone else to buy their dog a gift for their birthday?"
