Shen Comics are truly fun when they’re made up of understandable plots and multiple characters. But sometimes, the outstanding yet appropriate creativity somehow overshadows such a safe zone, don’t you think? What I mean is many cartoonists have tried replacing unreal characters with themselves in animated versions of all vibes. That just sounds really cool, doesn’t it?! If you are feeling like driving away your boredom, you’d better look up Shen Comix and his extremely funny comics along! Trust us! Spending a few seconds searching will pay you back tons of refreshing laughs!
Shen (or Shenanigansen) is the pen-name used by cartoonist Andrew Tsyaston. He’s well-known for his three comic series, Owlturd, Shen Comix, and Bluechair, which have been storming on social media for more than six years. He’s also the co-creator of “Live with Yourself!”, a Comedy Web-toon Original written by David Mercier and Andy Kluthe, two renowned illustrators. As TheMusic.com.au acknowledged, Shen was an infamous name among certain cyber circles, which couldn’t stop him from keeping his comic persona unrelated to his real identity. He even described himself as a millennial in a 2019 interview.
Shen’s interest in comics comes from the great inspiration of a web-comic artist, Ronnie Filyaw, who is the creator of “Whomp!”. In another interview with Bustle magazine, he also pointed out his personal experiences as the second major motivation to create funny comics. The purpose of Shen’s works is to remind people that no matter how strong or seemingly unusual they may be, their emotions are all very human and natural.
Shen’s brainchildren, “Owl Turd Comix” and “Shen Comix”, were made in 2013. Since 2016, the artist started uploading them almost daily and carefully compiled a 111-page book of selected Owl Turd comics, titled “Emotions Explained with Buff Dudes”. The book was published by the Andrews McMeel company in 2018. Back in 2014, his third series “Bluechair” began and involves over 850 episodes up to now. Regarding “Live with Yourself!”, its computer support worker, Todd, is now divided into four versions of Shen – Todd (the future), Tomo (the current), Oldie (the elder), and Babs (the baby).
Besides funny comics, Shen also produced a horror series called “Eden” that runs for four episodes. Here, we’ve collected 30 of his most odd and ridiculous works below. If you’d love to get more, go check them out on his Webtoon – Shen Comix and become one of his supporters! Have a nice day!
