25 Quirky Comics By “The Jenkins” That Surely Make You Belly Laugh

Margot Nolan

Do you have siblings? Brothers or sisters? If you’re asked to rate your mutual closeness, at what percent will you choose? Some siblings never stop complaining about their troublesome bromances while some adore and believe in each other unconditionally. This has been a good trend for many comic artists to follow. Their works are about the daily life of siblings whose stories are probably relatable to yours to some extent. Excited yet? Be prepared for the masterpiece below!
The Jenkins, whose own father remains anonymous, has been so far one of the most read comic series on Instagram. It is about three brothers, Barney, Butch, and Junior Jenkins, who reside in their parents' basement. Not sure if you felt the same but many people literally laughed at how funny these names sound to them. What a first impression!
Back in middle and high school, the artist made games and animation on Scratch under the username @Hobson-TV. From 2016 to 2019, The Jenkins was updated with almost 600 strips in total. In 2020, a lot more independent strips were added, which are now available on its website – THE JENKINS. He also published a book of his first 300 Jenkins comics and made them the sequel of the rest of Jenkins brothers’ adventures. In fact, the series is still drawn on Scratch though it's not the most professional software.
Unlike most artists, The Jenkins' creator knows “eternal” rules so well, just as applying the counting sheep making people fall asleep to the “There Sheep in a Trenchcoat” series. “There isn’t much that unites my strips, but this concept of absurd premises from ordinary ideas is pretty common.” He believes comics such as “Far Side”, “Calvin and Hobbes”, “xkcd”, “Mr.Lovenstein” along with animated films like “The Office” and “The Simpsons” are his best inspirations to create The Jenkins. Some of his comics are even made based on nothing, such as “Pictionary”.
The artist possesses a number of 80.7K followers on Instagram and keeps receiving greater support from readers over the world. The fact that everyone is always supportive of his works truly sets his mind at rest. “I’d wager the most common reaction besides a chuckle is ‘I don’t get it’.” Without months of COVID, he wouldn’t think about releasing his works on Instagram, apart from Wordpress blog where they initially came from. “I p I might as well have fun and experiment and try out new stuff with my readers.”
Here, we have a small list of The Jenkins' funniest strips below. If you love for more, go check them out on his Patreon! Enjoy and have a nice day!
