Having A Fit Healthy Pup, Man Is Accused Of Starving His Dog

Some studies show being overweight is not good for our health. It raises the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, the most common causes of kidney disease. And this is no exception for our dog friends. Obese dogs have a shorter life span, lower quality of life, and higher risk for health problems than other dogs. Although obesity is unhealthy in dogs, many people seem not to care about it. They love chubby pets and claim that their owners take good care of them. Therefore, when a dog is skinny, they blame their owners for not caring for them and feeding them.
That's what happened to a man who owns a 7-month-old Boxer puppy. Because his dog is skinny, he is accused of dog abuse by a strange couple. They even threatened to call the police on him for starving his dog.

The story happened when he took his dog to the dog park, where they met the couple and their 4-year-old Cane Corso. Everything was pretty nice if the couple didn't lecture the man about his dog's weight and complained that she was too skinny.
He said: "Now my dog is not fat I'll say that much but she is not skinny by any means, she is to the point where you can't see any ribs, I would call her fit, and my vet told me she is the perfect weight for a puppy that still develops, the vet also warned me that the dogs should not be overweight because it's bad for their joints."
The man tried to explain that she was healthy and was the perfect weight, but they still told him that his dog was starving. "To come back to the story, the couple is giving me lectures and telling me that my dog is starving. At that point I lost my patience and told them to mind their own business and that my dog gets 3 measured meals a day and is perfectly healthy. With that I got accused of dog abuse and that "I should watch out because someone might call the cops on me for starving my dog."

The man was annoyed, so he went on Reddit to share his story. "I can't believe that someone thinks that they are that smart and know better than the people who went to school for this stuff and that it's better for me to listen to some stranger."
Redditors quickly responded to his post. Most of them side with the man and criticize the couple for harassing him. They also point out that people are so used to seeing overweight dogs, they are shocked to see a fit healthy pup.
