8 X-Men Who Can Return In Deadpool 3 Alongside Wolverine

Lucas Aquino

After the latest release of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Deadpool 3 is going to be the next MCU title to be released, and it’s set to hit the theaters on May 3, 2024. This will also be the first-ever MCU movie that features superheroes from the Fox Marvel Universe, as Disney has already acquired the rights for characters such as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Besides Ryan Reynolds reprising the role of the titular anti-hero, fans are also excited to see Hugh Jackman return as the iconic Wolverine, and the latest addition of Jennifer Garner as the assassin Elektra.

With Logan featured in Deadpool 3, we can expect to see multiple other famous X-Men characters make their MCU debut as well. X-Men has always been a fan-favorite franchise, with beloved iconic characters from the comics such as Storm, Professor X, or Magneto, so needless to say how fans are dying to see them appearing in the MCU as soon as possible. As we wait, let’s name some iconic X-Men who can make their appearance in Deadpool 3 theoretically, and how they’ll affect the story overall.

#1. Cyclops/Scott Summers

Unlike the others, Cyclops has actually appeared in Reynolds’s Deadpool franchise, though he only makes a quick cameo in the sequel along with some others. Scott is known for his uptight and more serious demeanor, so he doesn’t get along well with Logan at first. With Logan in Deadpool 3, we can see some hysterical sequences where the Merc and the Mouth team up with the Wolverine to mock and make fun of Cyclops.

Besides, James Marsden, who plays Scott in the X-Men franchise, has confirmed that he doesn’t rule out the possibility of reprising the role, given that the story can maintain the quality.

#2. The Phoenix/Jean Grey

Needless to say, if both Logan and Cyclops are to emerge in the threequel, Jean’s arrival is also a must, as she’s a very close confidant to the two aforementioned characters. However, if this is the case, Marvel can’t give Jean a big role yet, as she’s one of the strongest mutants around, so her appearance would break the movie balance if she’s not handled with care.

#3. Mystique/Raven Darkholme

Mystique is easily one of the most beloved X-Men in the franchise with her unique shape-shifting ability and her melee combat prowess, and to see her return in Deadpool 3 would be a treat for fans. However, Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijin both didn’t have a pleasant experience with the character make-up, it’s hard to see either of them reprising the role for just a small cameo. Deadpool even joked about this matter himself, stating the CGI for Mystique is so expensive that they can’t afford to hire Lawrence anymore.

#4. Professor X/Charles Xavier

The founder and the leader of the X-Men, Charles Xavier, aka Professor X is one of the best candidates to appear alongside Wolverine in the threequel. Sir Patrick Stewart has already made his MCU debut as an Earth-838 variant in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, who was killed brutally by the Scarlet Witch, and is rumored to have another appearance in the franchise.

However, as wild as the Deadpool franchise can be, there’s a possibility that the James McAvoy version of Professor X might appear alongside Sir Patrick Stewart as well, and it would be an absolutely comical scene to see in the movie.

#5. Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr

Of course, if Professor X does present in Deadpool 3, then his best friend-turn-rival Magneto needs to make his entrance as well. This duo’s appearance is even more likely to become true, as Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed that he and Sir Ian McKellen were not done playing the frenemies role, and still had plans for the future, hinting at how they once again can appear in at least one more MCU title. If this comes true, it would be the perfect scenario that would send any X-Men and Marvel fan into ecstasy.

#6. Storm/Ororo Munroe

With the X-Men right acquired by the House of Mouse, Storm’s resurface in the MCU is a must. Fans have all the more reason to believe this to happen, as in May 2023, Storm’s former actress Halle Berry posted a picture on Twitter with her new white-dyed short haircut. For the ones that have already watched the franchise, you know what this means.

#7. The Beast/Hank McCoy

Known for both his brains and brawns, Hank McCoy is basically the Bruce Banner version of the X-Men Universe, and fans would love to see the two appear together in a future MCU movie. But before all that, we can expect him to resurface in Deadpool 3 along with the others. Knowing Wade, we’re sure as heck that he wouldn’t hesitate to make fun of Beast’s appearance, and the latter will definitely lose his mind because of it.

#8. Quicksilver/Pietro Maximoff

Now, we all know that Pietro has made his presence known in the MCU, albeit a brief one, as he was killed abruptly in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Quicksilver’s death in the MCU, while a heroic one, leaves a bad taste in fans’ mouths, as he’s much faster and more powerful in both the comics and the X-Men Universe. Bringing him back to the MCU would be a reasonable move by Marvel to give the character the spotlight he deserves.

With the expanding Multiverse as of now, we can expect to see a Quicksilver variant in the MCU, the one being played by Evan Peters, and then we only need Marvel to bring Wanda back from death and let the two of them meet for an emotional (and weird) reunion. Besides, who wouldn’t want to see the epic slow-motion scene in X-Men: Apocalypse reappear again in the MCU?

Which X-Men character do you want to see the most in Deadpool 3 besides Logan? Let us know in the comment.
