10 Transgender Public Figures Who Bring Optimism To The Industries

Hollywood's transgender superstars are shattering barriers in the film and television industries, two fields that have long lacked genuine and significant representation. Fortunately, there are an increasing number of well-known transgender actors and actresses who are not just excellent at what they do but also champions for more accurate representations and roles for trans people on television.
These ten transgender celebrities are now offering good representation in cinema and television, ranging from Canadian legends like Elliot Page to Emmy winners like Mj Rodriguez.

1. Elliot Page

In addition to being nominated for an Academy Award, a Critics' Choice Award, a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, two BAFTAs, and a Critics' Choice Award, Elliot Page has starred in a variety of movies and television episodes throughout the years. He now appears in the third season of The Umbrella Academy, which will be available on Netflix in June.

For her portrayal of Sophia in Orange Is the New Black, Laverne Cox made history by being the first openly transgender person to get a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category. She has been a steadfast supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and has received several honors for it, including being named one of Time's most important people.

4. Indya Moore

Indya Moore is most known for playing the lead in the Emmy-winning television series Pose, but they have also begun to accumulate a number of cinema parts, including their appearance in Queen & Slim and the upcoming Aquaman movie.
They have been vocal about the harassment and transphobia they have experienced from their parents and classmates, but that hasn't stopped them from inspiring many. MJ Rodriguez gained notoriety with her part in Pose, much like her co-star Indya Moore. She made history by being the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe when she won the award for Best Actress - Television Series Drama earlier this year. "This is the door that is going to open the door for many more young bright folks," she said in response to the event on Instagram.

However, she made headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that she had been chosen to play the trans heroine Alysia Yeoh in the HBO Max feature film Batgirl. With the character, it will be the first time an openly trans character appears in a live-action feature film based on a DC Comics book.

8. Zach Barack

Ross started her business, TransTech Social Enterprises, to assist transgender persons in the IT sector in finding employment. Ross is an advocate for transgender people in technology. She is a genuine multi-hyphenate because she created the TransTech Summit as well.
