Have you ever thought that one day you’d have to choose between your life and your dog friend? What would you do if your family member forced you to rehome your beloved pet? That's what happened to a pregnant woman whose sibling refuses to live with her unless she gets rid of her dog. At first, most people criticized her sibling for not caring for her and her dog, but when they knew the whole story, everyone sided with the sibling and supported that decision.
Taking to the subreddit r/AmItheAsshole, the sibling who goes by the name u/AITAthrowaway1818 (OP) shared the reason why he/she wanted the sister to rehome her dog and refused to live with her if she didn't follow it.
OP wrote: "I [25NB] live in a studio apartment. My pregnant sister "Lisa" [44F] recently broke up with her bf and he wants her out of his house. The problem is she can't find a place to rent because of financial issues and breed restrictions (her dog is a pit) and that's why she wants to move in with me (I own my home)."
"I told Lisa she needs to rehome her dog because I wouldn't be able to pay for any repairs to my home and I knew she wouldn't be either. Well she didn't take it well. Said I was cruel, hated animals (not true) and am risking her baby's health by making her stress. Later my niece (her daughter) [21F] called and begged me to take Lisa in with the dog because she wouldn't be able to rehome it because of his issues and breed," OP continued.
OP loves to help, but he/she can't do it if the sister doesn't rehome her dog. "I know it sounds selfish but I just bought this house and I really don't have a lot of money."
Feeling guilty for this decision, OP went on Reddit to ask for advice and if he/she was wrong for doing this. After reading the post, Redditors quickly responded.

OP shared he/she loves the sister and her son, but he/she doesn't want her to bring her dog. It's because the dog is neurotic and loves to chew everything. This will cause thousands worth of damage at the apartment."I told Lisa she needs to rehome her dog because I wouldn't be able to pay for any repairs to my home and I knew she wouldn't be either. Most of them agreed that OP was not an a**hole because two people are more than enough for a studio apartment. They also advise OP to have a plan when the baby comes.Source: AmItheAsshole
