15+ Fans’ Hypotheses About MCU Villains That Are Sensible

Elise Feyrer

There are swarms of lowlifes hanging tight for a battle for each hero and superhuman. Earth's Mightiest Heroes would not be anything without the supervillains and twofold specialists endeavoring to annihilate requests left and right. One of the fandoms' #1 activities is concocted fan hypotheses, and with regards to superheroes and wrongdoing warriors, there is a great deal of them. From unanswered inquiries to character characteristics, we pd out how to gather together a couple of the most intriguing fan speculations encompassing the one-hit-wonder baddies of the MCU.
Whether vulture was a unique individual from the crew hawk comes from or not, and whether Mysterio's final death is likewise a deception. Which minor MCU bad guy fan hypothesis do you believe is generally reasonable? The following are the 16 fans' hypotheses about MCU villains that are reasonable.

1. Darren Cross Got The Video Footage Of Hank Pym As Ant-Man From Romanoff's Leak

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/trekstark: "My theory is that the S.H.I.E.L.D. footage of Hank Pym as Ant-Man that Cross shows during his presentation early in the movie was taken from the leaks Black Widow did at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

2. The Asgardians Gave The Reality Stone To The Collector In The Hopes That He Would Find The Rest

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/ValhallaAtchaBoy:
"If it's with the Collector, then it's not safe. Only an idiot would give that man a stone."
"Or a genius."
- Star-Lord and Thor in Avengers: Infinity War
Why did the Asgardians give such a powerful item to a being who is clearly untrustworthy and a bit unstable? Even if they don't want to keep it with the Tesseract in the vault at Asgard, surely there's a safer place somewhere in the Nine Realms they could hide it. Thor knew what he was doing: The Collector is obsessed with collecting. Once he had one Infinity Stone, he would be obsessively driven to complete his collection. They could watch him from afar and let him do the dirty work of scouring the galaxy, seeking out the stones that were still hidden. This proved to work in Guardians of the Galaxy when The Collector contacted Gamora and offered to pay her to bring him the Orb. Without Tivan's interference, the stone likely would have gone directly to Ronan, the Guardians wouldn't have a reason to join together, Xandar would be destroyed, and Thanos would have got the Power Stone much earlier. Looks like Thor really is a genius."

3. Vulture Was An Original Member Of The Squad Falcon Comes From

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/Wildmansy: "Late in the movie, Vulture lectures Spider-Man on how they are both parts of the disenfranchised, how people like Stark don't really care about the little guys. He cites as an example serving in their military or working menial jobs and then having people like Stark take it all away or something to that effect.
The line serving in the military, plus the fact that he seems very adept in his Vulture rig even early in the movie, leads me to believe he was probably an early member of the squad Falcon was in. Maybe a prototype tester of some sort which would explain why his rig is a lot bigger than the Falcons. At the very least, the line would tell you he could have been an air force pilot as he was also quick to notice the drag Spider-Man caused by latching on to him."

4. More Of Ego’s Children Had The Celestial Gene

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/Fidget02: "I was just thinking about Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. “What are the odds that Peter Quill, the only one of Ego’s children to have the Celestial gene, just so happened to be the child Yondu refused to bring to Ego?”
Well, maybe Peter wasn’t the only celestial kid that Yondu picked up. I believe that the celestial gene only shows during adulthood. If any of Yondu’s kidnappings are similar to Peter’s, then all of them happened when they were kids, and since they weren’t adults, Ego would kill them for not being Celestial. When Ego teaches Peter how to use the light, he kinda freaks out when it works (My favorite Kurt Russel moment in the movie). We get the impression that Ego’s tried this many times before, but it just never worked until now. I think that’s the primary difference between Ego’s Celestial child and his normal children. Peter is an adult, all others are kids.
According to this theory, if Yondu brought Peter to Ego, then Ego would kill Peter because he doesn’t seem to be a Celestial. If Yondu never found out Ego killed his kids, then Ego would keep doing it maybe forever. A lot of kids will die, but his plan would never come to fruition."

5. Mysterio's Final Death Is Also An Illusion

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/Octavepuss: "Consistency in Glasses Behavior: Throughout the movie, Tony's glasses consistently follow the same 3 basic rules that Google Home, Siri, or Alexa follow when interacting with a user by voice.
  1. User-Initiated: A special word needs to be said--"Edith" in the case of the glasses--for the device to register a new command or a new question is being asked.
  2.  Context-Dependent: Some devices--Google Home for example--will listen for several seconds after a response for a follow-up command or question. "Google, where's the nearest hardware store?" "Lowe's Home Improvement is, 3.7 miles away." "How late are they open?" "Lowes Home Improvement is open 'till 11:30 pm."
  3. Device Initiated: The device may ask a question of the user and wait several seconds for a response. "Welcome home. Should I turn off the alarm?"

6. Obadiah Stane Is Responsible For The Murder Of Tony’s Parents

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/SkjeiHeyKid: "My evidence:
  1. Tony’s parents are killed by HYDRA/Bucky Barnes as hinted at in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and confirmed in Captain America: Civil War
  2. Obadiah in Iron Man was shown to be someone willing to sell to terrorists and kill anyone who interferes with his plans
  3. Obadiah takes over Stark Industries after the Starks are killed until Tony takes it back
  4. Obadiah does not care about Tony’s life as he hires the terrorists to kill him, and later takes his ARC reactor which will kill him"

7. Malekith Killed His People To Save Them

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/QuirkyPeaker:
"Malekith in Thor: The Dark World didn't kill his people to kill the Asgardian army, he did it to save his people. In the comics, King Bor is pretty ruthless and evil at times. Malakith didn't sacrifice his people to lay waste to Asgard's army, he did it to fool Asgard into thinking they had won the battle.
The reason they fooled them was that they Knew Bor would commit a ruthless genocide against them and would hunt them to the last if they knew if even one Dark Elf survived. If Malakith didn't sacrifice all but one small group of his people he would have lost everyone. Thus allowing Bor to go home claiming a successful genocide. We know this because when Odin talks to Jane about the war he tells her king Bor killed them all, not that Malakith sacrificed his people in an attempt at victory."

8. Ronan's Actions Were A Perversion Of Thanos's Overall Plan

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/DavidAtWork17:
"So Thanos runs around killing 1/2 of every planet he finds, a slow and somewhat plodding effort prior to his acquisition of the Infinity Gems. He likely pursued several lieutenants in this endeavor, since he can't be everywhere at once. Enter Ronan. Ronan agrees to help Thanos and receives enormous logistical support and power for his end of the deal. However, instead of killing 1/2 of each planet, Ronan abuses his new power and instead kills the entirety of 1 out of every 2 planets (such as his attempt on Xandar). In particular, he pursues those planets that have wronged the Kree empire in the past and draw into his army those who were the victims of those same governments. Thanos withdraws his support because this methodology is too personal and insufficiently balanced."

9. Hela Was Able To Crush Mjolnir Because Odin Was Dead

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/TheOrdinaryCritic:
"TL;DR Odin’s enchantments are what makes Mjolnir nearly unbreakable. When Odin dies his enchantments are lifted, allowing Hela to easily crush the hammer.
Mjolnir is often portrayed as a perfect, indestructible weapon with no equals, so it was a huge surprise to me when Hela crushed it in Thor Ragnarok with little effort. How was she able to do this? Here’s my theory on how it happened. First, we need to review why Mjolnir is so strong in the first place. The Hammer was forged in the heart of a dying star by the dwarves in Nidavellir. This alone makes the hammer incredibly powerful, but wait, there’s more! Mjolnir also benefited from a host of enchantments from the All-Father himself. The hammer had an enchantment of controllable infinite density, and a clause that only those deemed worthy could wield the weapon."

10. Arnim Zola Is Still Alive

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/Nano_Robotic_Army:
"There are two facts about the MCU that suggest he didn't die with the old computers in The Winter Soldier. Despite being stored in primitive technology, Zola's consciousness was most likely capable of accessing and traveling the Internet. Having later seen Ultron spread across the net, I see no reason why a preserved human consciousness couldn't.
Arnim Zola was almost considered a villain for Ant-Man (2015), so much so that there is concept art for his robotic body. This fact implies that Marvel Studios had or has plans for Zola still, and since Sam Wildon is taking up the mantle of Captain America, it's possible that he will fight Zola in an upcoming film. That is pretty solid evidence alone, but again, this is just a theory. I simply have reason to believe he's alive, and faking his death as he might have would be a great way for him to deceive Captain America."

11. Justin Hammer Is More Threatening Than He Seems

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/HipHopAnonymous23:
"In Iron Man 2, Justin Hammer is shown as a simple rival to Tony in the arms business who is willing to do whatever it takes to get his weapons to market. He is under contract with the government to make weapons in Stark's absence and also seems to have strong connections to Senator Stern. They are seen playing golf together and so on. Among the revelations in The Winter Soldier, we learn that Stern has been an ally of HYDRA all along. It's now obvious that Stern had the secret intention of giving the Iron Man armor to HYDRA to mass produce and take out its enemies as they plan to do with the Helicarriers some years later.
However, as it was becoming clear Tony wouldn't give up the Iron Man suit, HYDRA turned to Hammer to fulfill their need for weapons. I believe Stern saw Justin's hidden ruthlessness and offered to recruit him as a HYDRA operative, with the caveat that he needed to produce suits comparable to Iron Man, or else he would be silenced. When Justin is unable to make adequate suits himself, and with HYDRA's patience running out, he becomes desperate and enlists Ivan Venko to help him. Hammer is able to break Venko out of jail and fake his death using HYDRA's resources and agents (not to mention get him his burd, or at least a similar bird)"

12. The Grandmaster Settled On Sakaar Because Of Evolution

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/WamsyTheOneAndOnly:
"Time moves faster on Sakaar which allows species on other planets to evolve and breed stronger fighters for his arena. Just look at Korg, we've seen his species twice before (Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2) and they look much bigger and stronger than he does, this is because his species has evolved while he stayed the same."

13. Zemo And Sharon Carter Were Working Together

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/140Years:
"In Civil War, Zemo has a plan to break up the Avengers because of the destruction of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He constructs a plan to get the video of Winter Soldier killing Howard and Maria Stark and use it to turn Iron Man against Captain America. But a lot of things go right for Zemo that he has no control over.
  1. The Sokovia Accords create a rift between Cap and Tony
  2. Bucky is captured by the government
  3. Bucky tells Cap where to find Zemo
  4. Cap and Bucky get the Siberia base
And while not all of these things were probably in the original plan, some of them are crucial to the plan's success. And while Zemo had no control over these events, Sharon Carter was there at almost every critical junction.
  1. She is the only character that tells Steve to oppose the Accords.
  2. She tells Steve where to find Bucky so he can capture Bucky alive and Zemo can mind control him.
  3. She tells Steve where to find Bucky during his escape, so Steve can capture him again and learn about the Siberia base.
  4. She gives Steve and Sam their gear so they can better contend with Iron Man's team at the airport."

14. General Ross Is Related To Dum Dum Dugan

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/HeadOfSpectre:
"Ross seemed pretty interested in making a Super Soldier Serum in The Incredible Hulk. Plus, he's been generally kinda an a**hole to Captain America overall. Him being related to Dugan (maybe not his son, but a nephew/grandnephew) might add some context to that. Dugan clearly respected Cap, and you can be damn sure he'd be telling the kids in his family, both his kids and his nieces and nephews, all about him. I mean, Howard couldn't shut up about the man.
So: Let's say Ross grows up hearing about Captain America. Then, later in his career, when he gets the opportunity to do so, he reopens the Supersoldier program, hoping to create another Cap. (Which results in the Hulk and Abomination) Now, when Cap actually comes out of cryo: Ross has this idealized view of the man, who he probably thinks shares his ideals. Then finds out that Cap is nothing like the man he thought he was. And now he just flat out resents Cap for disappointing him. It's like finding out your hero is actually an avid supporter of [Insert thing you hate here].
Ross is an ambitious soldier, who is probably most interested in furthering his career. He's just a bureaucrat in camo. Nothing like Cap, who is genuinely trying to do some good for people."

15. Dormammu Is Actually Strange From Another Timeline

Source: Marvel Studio

From  u/generalecchi:
"Benedict Cumberbatch doing motion capture for Dormammu may not be just a coincidence. Dormammu could be Stephen Strange from a timeline. Whether he opened the portal to the dark dimension himself or is converted by Kaecilius. Also, he somehow knows about pain (when he said "...but you will suffer" to Stephen ). Still, I'm uncertain that this timeless dimension is just there all along or is created by Dormammu."

16. Killmonger Was A CIA Plant Who Went To Wakanda On A Mission

Source: Marvel Studio

From u/brinz1:
"Killmonger was trained by the CIA to infiltrate countries and destabilize their regimes for the benefit of US interests. In the movie, Killmonger infiltrated Wakanda and Destabilised the regime by the end of the movie, Wakanda was opening up in a way that benefited American interests as a friendly partner. I did not let that irony slip past me. Now, if you look at the sordid history of European and American Colonialism in China, India, and Japan, it usually starts with the demand that they drop their isolationist traditions and open their borders up for trade. Often using "Gunboat Diplomacy" to intimidate people into signing an accord. Alternatively, they will support weaker factions within the Nation and support them as they take over or destabilize the nation, with the expectation that they will open up the country for business.
That is unless they simply place their own dictator in charge. There is no way Killmonger ended up working in the CIA doing this by accident. They knew who he was, they must have realized his parentage and trained him accordingly. He was far too valuable for them not to take notice of and not to use. Especially in a nation like Wakanda. We assume Killmonger is acting on his own, but who tells us that? The CIA? since when have intelligence agencies in the MCU been honest? Think about how the Agents of Shield spend so much time going over the globe seizing anything they suspected of being Alien tech. Killmonger says the weapons he sends out are to be delivered to help oppressed Black people in America. Rather than some "Black Nationalist militia just waiting for some superweapons to appear out of nowhere" I suspect that the weapons were going straight to his CIA handlers."
