7 Pairs of Celebrity Who Really Hated Each Others

Elise Feyrer

The fact that superstars do not always get along with their co-stars is an open secret, yet, the feuds between these seven pairings of celebrities will surprise you. These are the rivalries that take the cake, whether they were magical onscreen and nightmares off, or just plain insane with the manner that they acted with one another:

1. Leonardo DiCaprio & Claire Danes

It may seem hard to ignore the charisma of a young Leonardo DiCaprio, but his Romeo + Juliet co-star, Claire Danes, did just that. Reportedly finding the heartthrob, regarded as a joker on production, to be too juvenile, the sixteen-year-old starlet spent as much time as possible away from him behind the scenes. On-screen chemistry is a start!

2. Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling did not get along on the set of The Notebook, even though they created one of the finest on-screen couples we've seen in a while. According to director Nicholas Cassavetes, Gosling had trouble working with Rachel McAdams and even asked for a stand-in to read lines off-screen.
After being locked in a room with a producer and having a good old-fashioned screaming match, the two eventually came out ready to begin filming. Cassavetes thinks that from that point, things got easier, although they were never completely trouble-free.

3. Shia LaBeouf & Tom Hardy

LaBeouf says he and Hardy didn't always get along during the production of Lawless, and Hardy says Shia knocked him out. Put to sleep. I mean he is a terrible kid. He is. He also has an imposing presence. What a terrifying guy. He tried to hurt me. Moonshine was what he was imbibing. "I was wearing a cardigan, and, well, I fell." There was a far deeper narrative behind that selfie they snapped together, and we still don't know how it happened, given that Tom Hardy is one of the individuals we'd be least likely to mess with (have you watched Bronson?).

4. Sarah Jessica Parker & Kim Cattrall

The media often exaggerates the degree to which women in the public eye dislike one another; this may be the case with the Sex and the City cast. Nobody knows why they didn't get along (or even if they didn't get along), but there are many tales about these two stars, most of which center on wage disagreements. SJP has hinted at the rivalry by saying that "bad sentiments" often result from the exhaustion of long days on production.

5. Will Smith & Janet Hubert

Since having a kid, "there's something different about you," as Jazz informs Mrs. Banks in the fourth season's premiere episode. The original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, and Will Smith had a terrible rivalry that led to her being sacked off the program. She has made it clear that she views Smith a diva and has said that working with Will and Alfonso Ribeiro was a nightmare. Janet's Viv was a boss, and we wish they could've reconciled. Let's hear it from Janet in her own words:

6. Meryl Streep & Dustin Hoffman

Is it really humanly possible to dislike Meryl Streep? That's what Dustin Hoffman would have you believe. Hoffman was going through his traumatic divorce when he was filming the Academy Award–winning Kramer vs. Kramer. The actor claims he carried some of the tension from his own life onto the set and let it all out on Meryl. Meryl is so amazing that she didn't even sense his hostility because she isn't used to it.

7. Nicki Minaj & Mariah Carey

One of the most publicized feuds in recent memory, with most of the drama has unfolded on American Idol, this one is also one of the silliest. Even though the source of their mutual loathing has never been established, viewers of any episode from that season of the talent competition will immediately recognize the constant sniping between these two. Their time on Idol may be past, but their rivalry will continue. And what did Mariah think of it all?
