It is difficult to enjoy a wonderful life with cats if you or your family members are allergic to them. Honestly, cat allergies can tear a family apart. In fact, many families get into quarrels over this problem.
That's what happened to a woman who wanted a cat her whole life but she couldn't have one as her mom suffers from cat allergies. Although she is an adult and has her own home, her allergic mom often visits her (three to four times a week). Her dad told her she couldn't do that since her mom is allergic, and she should wait until after her mom has passed to adopt a cat.
When faced with this dilemma, she u/ThrowRAavocado went on Reddit to ask for advice, and people had a whole lot to say about her situation.
"AITA for not wanting to wait decades more to adopt a cat out of consideration for someone who doesn't even live in my household?"

"I am in my mid-30's. I've wanted a cat all my life, but my mom is allergic. I don't live in the same house as my mom, but she does live in the same neighborhood and visits often (3-4 times per week). Tonight I made an offhand comment that after my 14-year-old dog is gone, I may adopt a cat. My dad told me I couldn't do that since my mom is allergic, and I should wait until after my mom has passed to adopt a cat," she wrote."AITA for not wanting to wait decades more to adopt a cat out of consideration for someone who doesn't even live in my household?"

If you want to take a cat home but have a family member with an allergy, you could consider adopting a hairless cat or hypoallergenic breed.
