The future of the new franchise dedicated to Bruce Wayne is still shrouded in mystery, despite all the talks about a sequel that have been circulating for quite a while. There has been no official news yet, but at the end of the movie, The Batman has already hinted at what path this narrative universe could take.
Accordingly, in the last scenes of The Batman, although he is not revealed directly, we witness the debut of the character played by Barry Keoghan. In the cinematographic version of the film, the actor is seen only in a fragmented way and in most scenes, we could only hear his voice. Anyway, thanks to the rumors that emerged before the release, it is easy to understand that the actor is, and will be, the Joker.

However, in a recent interview, director Matt Reeves stated that the appearance of Joker at the end of The Batman was only to help the audience understand that Gotham would never be far from danger, and it didn't mean this character would show up in the future Movies of the franchise.
“It’s not an Easter egg scene,” he said. “It’s not one of those end credits Marvel or DC scenes where it’s going, like, ‘Hey, here’s the next movie!’ In fact, I have no idea when or if we would return to that character in the movies.”
