Not all dogs who stay at shelters are rescued, abandoned, or found on the streets. Some dogs are surrendered to shelters as their owners couldn’t afford to take care of them anymore. The dog in this post is one of those dogs.

Meet Neno, a tan mixed-breed dog who was taken to Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Center because his owner could no longer afford to keep him. He was accustomed to being at home with his owner, so living in the shelter with other dogs put him in a state of shock, and he began to shake uncontrollably.

Paige King, a worker at the shelter, was heartbroken to witness Neno's situation, so she decided to do something to help him. She recorded him in the cage and posted it on Facebook with the hope that a kind-hearted person felt for him and adopted him.
Fortunately, a woman named Laura Rodgers fell in love with him. She had cried the first time she watched his video. She shared, “The moment I saw his video, I cried. I could not get him out of my mind. That video moved me that much.”

Laura drove over an hour to meet Neno and then took him home. She suspected Neno had a neurological issue, but she still wanted to give him a second chance. She then took him to the vet, where the doctors found out that he was anemic due to a tick infestation. He also had an under-active thyroid and heartworm, but that only made Laura want to love him more and help him recover.

Thanks to the love and care of Laura, Neno is happy and healthy in his new family.
