On 9 January 2022, a 33-year-old woman from Denver broke the Walt Disney World marathon record by winning all four races in a row. Completing Disney's Dopey Challenge with the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon (a total of 48.6 miles) on consecutive days is an incredible achievement. But Brittany Charboneau went much farther, winning all four races in the women's class to become the first woman to sweep the event in its 29-year history.
Despite running 5.1 miles on Thursday, 6.2 miles on Friday, and 13.1 miles on Saturday, Charboneau finished well ahead of second-place runner Giovanna Martins who had only completed the marathon. Early in the race, Charboneau trailed the leaders before stepping up the pace and pulling away from the field down the stretch. Her time of 2:45:15 was about five minutes quicker than Martins (2:48.16) and nearly three minutes faster than Megan Curham (2:50:11).
