10 Exciting Book-To-Movie Adaptations Coming In 2022

Whether you're searching for a thriller, a nonfiction history book, or a feel-good novel, Hollywood has something to offer for everyone. When we watch a film based on a book that we've read, we get a distinct type of experience. It's also fascinating to watch familiar ps come to life.
Though many people said that the screen adaptation pales in contrast to the brilliance of the book, there are still excellent films. For example, "Harry Potter" was a blockbuster after being adapted from the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. Or "Little Women", and "The Wizard of Oz" were notable Movies that have been based on books. And this year, a new and big stack of books to movies is on its way to us.
Including best-selling novels like "Death on the Nile" by Agatha Christie, and "School for Good and Evil" by Soman Chainani, this year is set to bring plenty of great viewing. Ranging from miniseries to star-studded features movies, here are some of the most anticipated cinematic adaptations to look out for in 2022.

#1 "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie - 2022

"Peter Pan" is a story about an orphan who is whisked away to Neverland by fairies, where he meets pirates, fairies, and lost boys.
"Peter Pan" has been adapted several times, however aside from the animated version, many of the live-action remakes have been panned. This new Peter Pan and Wendy will include a more diverse ensemble than previous adaptations, with Alexander Molony, Yara Shahidi, and a slew of other actors.

#2 "Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel" by A.W. Jantha

"Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel" occurs 25 years after the events of the original film. Max and Allison from the previous film have a seventeen-year-old daughter who goes up against the Sanderson sisters on Halloween. The Sanderson sisters return to wreak havoc on high school kids. The forthcoming Hocus Pocus film will follow a similar narrative to the novel. Hocus Pocus is a cult favorite Halloween film, and the sequel may be just as successful.

#3 "'Salem's Lot" by Stephen King - September 9

Stephen King's Salem's Lot, his second book after Carrie, is another horror story planned to be adapted into a book. This story follows a writer who visits a town where he discovers that the locals are turning into vampires. The film will feature Lewis Pullman, William Sadler, Alfre Woodard, Spencer Treat Clark, and Pilou Asbk.

#4 "Death on the Nile" by Agatha Christie - February 11

Kenneth Branagh has resumed his whodunnit anthology with "death on the Nile", following his adaptions such as "Agatha Christie" and "Murder on the Orient Express". This film has an impressive cast, with Gal Gadot, Emma Mackey, and Kenneth Branagh all being major players. Due to the epidemic and Armie Hammer's cannibal sexting issues, the film has been delayed several times but it is said to release on February 10.

#5 "Persuasion" by Jane Austen - TBD

Jane Austen's works are still being adapted for cinema, with Netflix planning a film adaptation of her final novel, "Persuasion". This novel follows Austen's most mature heroine - Anne Elliott. She was previously engaged to Frederick, but after being persuaded by a friend, she chose to call it off. Eight years later when Frederick returns, Anne must decide whether their romance is worth a second chance. This might be the next great Jane Austen adaptation.

#6 "School for Good and Evil" by Soman Chainani - TBD

"School For Good And Evil" is set in a magical institution where youngsters are taught to become heroes and villains. In this adaption, Charlize Theron will play the Dean of the School of Evil, while Kerry Washington will play the Dean of the School of Good, with Laurence Fishburne and Michelle Yeoh rounding out the cast. This film may become Netflix's own Harry Potter.

#7 "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens - July 22

Since 2018, Delia Owens' Where the Crawdads Sing has remained a best-selling novel. "Where the Crawdads Sing" is a fascinating coming-of-age narrative about love and growing up, with plenty of twists and drama. Set on the North Carolina coast, this novel will reveal the riddle of how a woman becomes a suspect in a murder. This movie is set to release on July 22nd.

#8 "The black phone" by Joe Hill - February 4

"The Black Phone" is an adaptation of a 2004 short story by Joe Hill. The plot revolves around a little boy (Mason Thames) who is abducted and held captive in a soundproof cellar by a serial murderer (Ethan Hawke). The boy discovers a broken phone that starts ringing and transmitting the voices of other victims. Scott Derrickson, who directed Sinister, co-wrote and directed the film and is set to come out on March 10.

#9 "Bullet train" by Kotaro Isaka - July 15

After a brief hiatus, Brad Pitt is returning to the action genre with "Bullet Train". This film follows five assassins aboard a bullet train to retrieve a mysterious suitcase. "Bullet Train" also stars Zazie Beetz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman,... Based on the Japanese novel by Ktar Isaka, this movie is sure to be a summer hit!

#10 "Deep water" by Patricia Highsmith - TBD

"Deep Water " based on a book by Patricia Highsmith is a psychological thriller. The movie stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, with Tracy Letts, Rachel Blanchard, and Lil Rel Howery as supporting roles. Affleck and de Armas play a married couple. In a loveless marriage, the couple avoids divorce by allowing each other to have lovers, but things got nasty when Highsmith exposes the American suburbia facade.
