25 Empowering Comics About Social Stereotypes For Women

Jeffrey Murphy

Lainey Molnar is a 31-year-old artist who wants to help empower women. She does this by creating empowering comics that talk about the pressures women face from society and how they are seen by others. Her comics cover a range of important themes, such as motherhood and freedom of choice. Lainey believes that it's easier to talk about heavy topics using simple and colorful drawings. The goal is to start conversations and get people talking, rather than just making statements because the comments and stories shared by people are just as important.
Lainey says that women face pressure from many different places, including their families, the media, and men. It can be really hard to try and meet all of the expectations that society has for women. For example, society tells us that we have to be the perfect size and shape, both maternal and ambitious, strong and sensitive, and always look young while accepting the aging process. It's a lot to deal with, and Lainey thinks that we're all tired of it.

We asked Lainey where she got her inspiration for her empowering comics. She said that it came from her own experiences and other content creators inspired her to come up with new ideas. She keeps a long list of illustration ideas on her phone and picks the one that feels most inspiring to her at the moment.

We also asked Lainey if it's hard to convey a message through illustrations or comics. She said that her goal is to simplify things as much as possible to get her message across. However, since she used to work in fashion, she also likes to include lots of details and fancy outfits in her drawings. Sometimes it's hard to find the right balance between the two. But she loves it when people in the comments notice small details in her drawings.
