Movies seem to have magic, taking us to a completely different world where anything is possible. When immersed in a movie, not many viewers stop and think whether it would happen in real life, but fall into the movie’s magic and let it dazzle us.
The film industry is not as glamorous as it seems. To produce a movie, it’s required a lot of effort from hundreds or (thousands) of people, including the crew and actors. They are certainly hard labor, working countless hours on the set. We’re sure that most of the audience would really like to peek into this different life, even if just for a moment. Behind the scenes, there are many stories that turn out to be more intense than the plot twists.

#1 Jim Parsons didn’t warn his on-set partners that he wanted to leave the show

Jim Parsons got international recognition thanks to his role as Sheldon Cooper in “The Big Bang Theory”. It was a huge shock when he decided season 12 of the movie would be his last. He offered to arrange a meeting for everyone involved in the filming process. Jim’s speech that announced his decision caused real drama. While many cast members couldn’t hold back tears, Johnny Galecki got genuinely offended. The actor didn’t warn the others of his plans though the crew become almost like a family after years of working together. To not ruin their relationship, the actors overcame their hurt and turned the filming of the final season into a real celebration.
#2 Sean Bean had to break a sweat more than once on the set of Lord of the Rings

Some of the scenes in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was set in the mountain so the entire crew used helicopters to move. It’s when everyone knew that Sean Bean has a serious phobia of using this mode of transport. The actor came to the filming spot partially in the lift and partially on foot. Although he always showed up later than everyone else, after all, he still had enough energy to convincingly portray Boromir.
#3 Working with birds was a real challenge for Lisa Kudrow

In the third season of “Friends”, we can see a cute scene where Lisa Kudrow’s character had to spend a lot of time with birds. Due to her ornithophobia – a fear of birds, the actress wasn’t pleased with this collaboration. Eventually, she tolerated the presence of her feathery colleagues with great difficulty, being particularly scared of the duck. She just breathed a big sigh of relief when the two birds cased to play.

The relationship between Han Solo and Princess Leia seemed the most natural in the entire trilogy. The audience can see the chemistry between them. Carrie Fisher confessed that they had feelings for each other but their relationship was hidden carefully until the actress’ autobiography was published. No one had even guessed that there had been something between them.
#5 Nicolas Cage seriously frightened the crew of Ghost Rider

To fulfill his role perfectly, Nicolas Cage tried to convince the crew that he had supernatural powers and could talk to spirits. The actor scared the entire crew by painting his face white and black, putting in black contact lenses, and pinning patches with images of ancient Egyptian artifacts to his jackets.
#6 Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were quite cold toward each other

The real relationship between Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman wasn’t as strong as on the screen. Although they were consistently polite to each other, they never communicated outside of the set.
#7 George Clooney made fun of Ryan Gosling on the set of Ides of March

Thanks to George Clooney’s clever conversation, Ryan Gosling always felt happy on the set of “Ides of March”. Clooney often made Gosling’s trousers wet by using a small spray bottle full of water while masterfully distracting him.

There is a true friendship that blossomed on the set of “Star Wars”. Hayden and Ewan quickly became close friends because they were both away from home and had to spend a lot of time training together. They were so delighted when fate brought them back together for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
#9 Josh Hutcherson scared Jennifer Lawrence half to death

The Hunger Games actors were constantly making fun of each other. For example, Josh Hutcherson scared Jennifer Lawrence by putting a mannequin in the actress’ bathtub. It was absolutely a hell of a chokehold. After that, she struggled to come up with a way to get back at Hutcherson.

Penelope Cruz dreamt of acting with Johnny Depp. Fortunately, they starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and became good friends. Depp’s humor literally drove the actress to hysterics. Once they couldn’t start filming for two hours because they were laughing uncontrollably.

When having to film in a lab full of high-tech equipment like lasers, Chris Pine told Benedict Cumberbatch that they needed a special “neutron cream” for protection and he believed him unconditionally. The cream was dotted all over the actor’s face and body. After that Benedict knew it was a joke.

The chemistry between Marshall and Lily in “How I Met Your Mother” is so great. Many might not know that actress Alyson tried to limit the number of their scripted kisses as much as possible. She didn’t like Segel’s smoking habit.

David Harbour described the set of “Stranger Things” as chaos at times. The young actors quickly got acquainted with each other and started acting like real siblings, constantly quarreling and teasing each other while Hoabour himself acted like a mean uncle.

Zoe Saldaña wasn’t pleasant atmosphere on the set. It’s not because the cast wasn’t great but the higher-ups who made all the decisions behind closed doors behaved unpleasantly at times. All backstage intrigue made the actress so tired that she intended to leave the movie business but fortunately, her later collaboration with Steven Spielberg made her change her mind.
