When it comes to red-carpet events, every celebrity has some tricks up their sleeves to look their best in front of the cameras. Some tricks might even make you facepalm and say: “Why haven’t I thought about this before!” while others are a little ridiculous. So prepare to drop your jaws all over the floor. Here are 12 tips that Hollywood stars use to shine in every photo.

The red carpet can be a little bit slippery, so celebrity stylist Jasmine Caccamo comes up with the perfect solution for that using sandpaper. Yup, you heard that right. To keep her clients from slipping and embarrassing themselves in front of the photographers, Caccamo usually sandpapers the bottom of her client shoes to create more friction. Many celebrities, such as John Cena, Addison Riecke, and Gigi Hadid, learned this trick from her.

2. Wearing Plastic Bags Under High Boots

On the other hand, putting on knee-high or thigh-high boots can be a pain in the ass due to the friction it creates, especially when these boots are extra tight. Celebrity stylists recommend using plastic bags to deal with this annoying problem. Plastic bags reduce friction, so you can easily slip right into those boots like it’s no big deal.

3. Wearing Socks Instead Of Shoes If Your Floor-length Dress Isn’t Long Enough

Zendaya has a great trick to deal with short floor-length dresses. If your floor-length gown is not long enough, then just skip the high heels. Zendaya’s Valentino vintage dress for the Euphoria season 2 event was a little short and couldn’t be altered, so the actress substituted her shoes with socks.

4. Wearing Pants Under Their Dress For Added Warmth

Sometimes red-carpet events take place in the cold months. Dresses aren’t the best outfit during this cold weather, so Jameela Jamil decided to wear jeans under her 2019 Golden Globes evening gown to keep warm. The trick was a huge success. Nobody knew the truth until she revealed her secret.

Sweat can be a big problem, especially when you’re wearing a dress with sleeves. To avoid staining her dress in the armpit area, actress Jessica Biel puts tissue paper under her armpits on her way to an event. Right before stepping out of the car, she reached in and discarded them. Panty liners can be used for the same purpose.

6. Remove Deodorant Stains With A Sponge Or Socks

Deodorant stains on a black dress are one of the worst things in the world. Luckily, you can remove these annoying stains with a special sponge. But if you don’t have this sponge on hand, then just use a nylon sock. Rubbing the stain with the sock will make it less noticeable.

7. Applying Makeup On Their Hair To Make It Look Thicker

Aside from helping you look stunning on the red carpet, makeup can also make your hair appear much more voluminous in front of the cameras. Kristofer Buckle, the stylist for Mariah Carey and Blake Lively, revealed his secret tip on Good Morning America. He admitted to applying makeup on the star’s scalp to make the hairline look more full.

Satin dresses tend to stick to your skin. To achieve the perfect flowy look and keep that unpleasant sticky feeling at bay, use an anti-static spray. Hairspray is the perfect substitute if you don’t have one on hand.
