#1 The scene when Pugsley is thrust up with an apple stuffed in his mouth

Wednesday discovers her brother with an apple in his mouth and locked in a school locker in the opening sequence of the first episode. When Wednesday gets Pugsley tied up with a rope and places an apple in his mouth for archery practice, Pugsley was first presented in the 1991 film The Adams Family.

#2 Wednesday sleeping with her arms crossed

Wednesday ends up in the hospital room following the gargoyle incident, where we can see her dozing off with her arms folded. Another homage to an earlier The Addams Family film is this one, in which Wednesday falls asleep with her arms crossed over her chest.

#3 Gomez’s prison uniform number

When Gomez is caught in episode 5, he changes into a prison outfit bearing the inmate identification number 17 19 12. The date and year are those of Charles Addams's birth, who originated the Addams Family sitcom.

#4 The “I can eat girl scouts for breakfast” phrase

In episode 3, when Tyler asks Wednesday whether she has ever been a girl scout, she responds, "I can eat girl scouts for breakfast." In the Adams Family movie, when Pugsley and Wednesday sell lemonade, this is a reference. A girl scout named Amanda approaches them and offers to buy them a cup in exchange for a box of her delectable Girl Scout cookies. "Are they made from real girl scouts?" responds Wednesday.

#5 The license plate on their car spells their family name.

The license plate identifies the owner's residence as New Jersey and pays homage to cartoonist Charles Addams, born in Westfield, New Jersey.

#6 Snapping twice to open the secret entrance to the Nightshade Society’s basement

The code to snap twice has a backstory and wasn't created by accident. The Adams Family's opening titles and theme song are where it first appeared, where the family twice snapped to the beat of the music.

#7 Morticia ripping off the flower head of a rose when visiting Garett Gate’s grave

This act is nothing new for Morticia’s character, as in both The Addams Family sitcom and The Addams Family movie, we can see her cutting off the heads of roses she picks.

#8 The names on the window when Wednesday visits her therapist, Dr. Valerie Kinbott

Under the guise of Wednesday's therapist, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the show's creators, are identified as real estate brokers. The identities of the associate producer, Natalie Testa, and Tommy Harper, one of the show's executive producers, are listed below.

#9 The giant stuffed bear in Principal Gwendoline Christie’s office

This is yet another allusion to the 1964 sitcom The Addams Family. The Addams Family is shown in the series to have a stuffed bear in their home.

#10 The dried-up head on the principal’s desk

This is a homage to the shrunken head of Harry the Hunter in Tim Burton's 1988 movie Beetlejuice.

#11 The Nevermore Academy yearbook

We can see the year 1991 on the cover as Morticia flips through the yearbook on Wednesday. The fact that she attended Nevermore the same year The Addams Family was released suggests that she saw the film.
