7 Celebrity Couples Who Keep Relationship Out Of The Spotlight

The era of social media has given rise to a trend among famous couples that has been dubbed "performative coupledom." This trend involves couples presenting showy public demonstrations of devotion online. Their fans delight in watching them boast about their love for one another, as it is human nature to be curious about the inner workings of other people's relationships.

However, some celebrities have decided to keep their personal lives, including their romantic ones, private. In addition, a few of them have even gone to tremendous measures only to conceal the fact that this part of their existence is public knowledge.

1. Taylor Swift & Joe Alwyn

Swift took private jets to visit the actor in London during their early stages of dating. So that she could avoid having to walk through the terminals, she would also have her passport checked while she was already on the plane. In addition, Swift hid her identity when the couple went on dates. The couple has chosen to keep their romance private, which appears to be paying off as marriage talks begin to surface.

2. Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling

Since dating in 2011, Mendes and Gosling have kept their romance under wraps. There are also two daughters in the family, but Mendes has been reluctant to show their faces on his social media accounts. The actress made it clear she wouldn't share a photo of her kids online until they were old enough to give her permission.

But despite their reputation as a secretive couple, they occasionally give each other cute public glances. While accepting the Golden Globe for La La Land, Gosling complimented his "wife" for being a wonderful mother. When Mendes was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she raved over a photo of Gosling by stating, "Look at him, though."

3. Robert Pattinson & Suki Waterhouse

The Twilight star gave an interview discussing the reasons for his preferential isolation level. He warned that opening up to others could dampen the couple's affection for one another. It's the same as when I walk down the street holding hands—hundreds of people stop to take my picture—and I just don't get it. Ultimately, the distinction between onstage and offstage will vanish, and you'll lose your mind.

4. Margot Robbie & Tom Ackerley

In 2013, Robbie worked with Ackerley, a producer, and assistant director, on a film set. They first lived together as housemates (along with five of their pals), but soon fell in love and began covertly dating. They had a small, intimate wedding in 2016. Truly, marriage is the greatest adventure of all time... Because of the weight of responsibility that comes with being someone's spouse, Robbie resolves to improve himself.

The marriage of the Hunger Games star and her art gallery husband was largely private. They had their first kid this year, but the public won't learn anything about either the pregnancy or the newborn because of statements made by Lawrence. In addition, she has made it clear that she is keen on maintaining some personal space in their domestic sphere.

She said, “(E)very instinct in my body wants to preserve their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can. They should not make anyone feel at home in their world. And I feel like that starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

6. Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied

Portman places a lot of value on her personal life. She explained that this was the "first thing that comes to mind" in any situation. While celebrating their 10th anniversary as a couple, Portman recently posted a rare, candid snapshot of herself and Millepied that was sure to please her fans.

The La La Land star and the Saturday Night Live writer kept their relationship under wraps, except for a few date night images (courtesy of the ever-diligent paparazzi) and their first red carpet appearance. And in 2019, they gave in to fan demand with a lovely photo of Stone flashing her ring. Their marriage has been termed as "strong and respectful," and it has only strengthened since the birth of their daughter in 2021.
