It is always poignant and upsetting to see a desperate animal that is ditched by the owner. Surprisingly, many of them understand their unfortunate situation and wait patiently for some helping hands. Let’s meet Hank, an 8-month-old dog found abandoned in the woods with all his belongings.
“He’s gonna have a little bit of a journey to go through before he’s fully adoptable,” Fond shared. “But he’s safe now and he’ll never, ever be hurt again.”

A Good Samaritan found the dog while walking through the forest. Interestingly, Hank neither looked nor acted like a puppy. He probably knew which circumstance he was in, so he sat still on a discarded dog bed with some toys and a sealed bag of dog food until someone spotted him and lent him a hand.Source: Humans and Animals United
The Good Samaritan contacted their local animal shelter, and a rescue team was sent to the area immediately. Though the rescue staff members were afraid that the dog might turn aggressive, the animal showed the opposite attitude.Source: Humans and Animals United
“He was nothing but love from the moment they got him,” Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, said. “Everybody says that he’s the sweetest dog.”Source: Humans and Animals United
When the center staff brought Hank to the vet, they pd out that one of his legs was broken. The doctors pointed out that the injury must be there for over two weeks, which explained why he never moved out of his bed in the woods.Source: Humans and Animals United
Due to the expensive cost of the surgery the puppy needed, the shelter reached Humans and Animals United for help. Rosa Fond took the sweet pup in and looked after him until he gained sufficient weight for the extensive surgery. The lovable Hank is now happy to cuddle in the gentle arms of the veterinary staff.Source: Humans and Animals United
Myriads of requests for Hank's adoption came under the post about him on the Facebook page of Humans and Animals United. However, Fond hasn’t decided on a forever home for the pup until he fully recovered from the wound.“He’s gonna have a little bit of a journey to go through before he’s fully adoptable,” Fond shared. “But he’s safe now and he’ll never, ever be hurt again.”
