Sharon McFadden

Watching movies is a great way to relax and unwind after a stressful day. With good movies, you can escape from boring reality and explore the colorful world of fictional characters for two hours or more. However, there are times when you find some irritating movie plot holes that make absolutely no sense and they ruin everything. These plot holes in iconic movies are so big that people just walk right through them without noticing their existence.
So let’s grab a bowl of popcorn and get ready to get cozy. It’s time to look back at all the illogical things that happen in your favorite films and laugh at how silly they are. Did you spot any of these humongous plot holes before?

1. A Quiet Place (2018)

There were so many questions about this movie. Like if the noise from the waterfall could cover for them, why didn’t the family just live next to it? If the monsters targeted anything that makes a sound, why didn’t they frantically run around the forest chasing after random sounds? They had incredibly sensitive hearing after all.
Plus, the dad can make a distracting noise instead of pointlessly sacrificing himself at the end of the movie. Just throw a rock or something man!

2. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

Ant-Man went into the Quantum Realm, he got out looking like nothing changed. Hank Pym's wife went in, she came out as old as her husband. This plot hole was never explained and most people just seem to ignore it. But once you notice it, you can see that it's completely illogical.

3. Man of Steel (2013)

Man of Steel opened with the destruction of Superman’s home planet. While the planet was blown into oblivion, the villain was exiled and all of the citizens were left to die on the planet. So his punishment was to be the only survivor of his planet? What a great punishment.

4. Mummy (1999)

We all know how Imhotep has to loot body parts from other characters in The Mummy to put himself back together. But the eyes he steals belong to a person wearing glasses, and we can all agree that his vision won’t be spectacular. Realistically, Imhotep should really be squinting at everyone for the rest of the movie.

5. The Little Mermaid (1989)

We can accept that the whole musical that our dear Sebastian orchestrates in the boat scene can be sung by fish, therefore Eric won’t be able to understand them. However, we can’t understand why Ariel doesn’t just communicate with Eric via writing. She could easily write on a piece of paper or anything to let him know about the whole deal. Ariel could obviously read and write, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to sign the contract.

6. Cinderella (1950)

The miracle ends by midnight and everything changes back to how they were before the magic. Well, all except for the glass slipper that Cinderella left behind during her leaving. If the carriage was turned back into a pumpkin, and the dress was turned back to being all dirty and old, then why didn’t her shoes change back?

7. Aladdin (1992)

Speaking of miracles in Disney classic movies, when Aladdin used his first wish to turn himself into a prince, he said “Make me a prince,” not “Make me look like a prince.” The Genie, who was the most powerful being on Earth, went on and granted his wish.
However, his friends spent the rest of the movie telling him not to act like a prince while Jafar threatened to reveal that Aladdin was not a prince. If Genie made Aladdin a prince, then he was a prince.

8. Monsters University (2013)

If you have watched both Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, you would have noticed a detail that made no sense. Mike and Sully claimed that they were friends since elementary school in Monsters, Inc. However, in the prequel movie Monsters University, they never met until their first year of college.

9. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

In The Dark Knight Rises, the police force spends months underground. They should come back rough and really beaten up after those horrible months. Nope! They just show up all cleanly shaven with neatly pressed uniforms and pristine shirts.

10. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

We all know how important Sirius was to Harry. That was why it was so illogical for Harry to forget about a birthday present that Sirius gave him, the mirror. Sirius only gave him a few gifts, so how could Harry completely skip it?
