Nicki Minaj Calls Out Grammys Again, Heavily Pissed Off By Their Treatment

Nicki Minaj calls out Grammys in her most recent Tweets, showing her displeasure towards their decision with her latest submission to the award. This is not the first time that the female rapper is angry with the biggest music award in the whole world. What is actually happening? 

#1. The Recording Academy’s Action Does Not Seem Fair To Her

Previously, Nicki Minaj has sent her hit song Super Freaky Girl to the award, in the categories of rap songs. Super Freaky Girl is her brand new single, released this August. Immediately, it topped several charts including rap song charts and the Billboard Hot 100. However, it does not make the Recording Academy classify it in rap categories. The hit song has been moved to pop categories since it doesn’t have the qualified length of rap parts. This has been extremely bad news to the Queen of Rap. 
Right after being informed, Nicki Minaj calls out Grammy on her social media accounts, Twitter and Instagram. Plus, she only mentioned another artist and her song, Latto and her release Big Energy. The female rapper stated that it was not quite fair, considering both songs are similar to the pop/rap ratio. This later, has caused the feud between the two rappers on social platform, Twitter.  
In fact, Latto did send Nicki a private message on Twitter, confirming that she was totally on her side. However, Nicki called her out publicly for not “fighting” on her side. Ever since then, those two have been tweeting against each other and things are quite intense. 

#2. Has Nicki Minaj Won Any Grammys?

Sadly, no. She was nominated for over 10 times on Grammy, but never won once. Nicki is undoubtedly the most remarkable rapper during the 2010s for several hit songs and collaborations. Her songs and albums all gained success critically and commercially. She also won several awards including MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, BET Awards… But it does not apply to the Grammys. She failed all 10 nominations from 2011 to 2016. Is it because she was not good or lucky enough? 

#3. The Long History Of Nicki Minaj's Beef With The Grammy (Featuring The Weeknd)

In 2020, the rapper showed her anger because she did not receive the 2012 Best New Artist Award. The award belonged to Bon Iver, a white singer. It is easy to understand her statement because this was not the first time that Black artists had to deal with racism from big award shows such as the Grammy. In 2019, Nicki also confirmed that she was bullied by the award, for pissing Ken Ehrlich, its Executive Producer, off.
The Weeknd is also one of the Black stars who decided to boycott the award show. In 2021, his career was at its peak with no.1 album and songs. His music was recognized and listened to worldwide. However, he received zero nominations at the 2021 Grammy Award. “The Grammys remain corrupt.” he tweeted. Following his expression, many other artists including Drake, Zayn, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, Kanye West also did show their disappointment with this award show.
