Outfits are a very important part of a performance, especially when you are a global star. Celebrities make sure to put on their most dazzling attires when they come out on the stage, but some of them might take the costume game a little too far back then. These legendary stage outfits caused quite a drama in the past, and some of them, are still pretty impressive nowadays.

Back then when people are still very conservative, Madonna was one of the first devas who dared to break the censorship code and wore what she wanted. She chose the provocative cone-shaped bra as her stage outfit during her 1990 tour Blonde Ambition.
The costume was designed by none other than the famous Jean-Paul Gaultier. Madonna asked him personally for the outfit, so he decided to include a special corset as an extra gift. instead of narrowing her waist, the corset was loose and it was a shocking sight to see. The cone-shaped bra has become an inspiration for younger stars, such as Lady Gaga with her flamethrower bra and Katy Perry with her whipped cream top.

The red latex suit is one of the most legendary stage outfits that Britney Spears ever wore. Unless you were living under a rock, you have to recognize this costume from the “Oops!.. I Did It Again” music video. It was created overnight and the costume designer was worried Britney would lose consciousness after moving so much in it.
People on the set of the music video claimed that when filming ended, there was a bucket of sweat spilled on the floor. Finally, Spears got to unzip the costume after a long hard day. It was very challenging, but she got an epic video that was going to live on for generations.

ABBA is famously known for their bright, shiny, and slightly ridiculous stage outfits. Even the band member Björn Ulvaeus had to admit that those costumes were pretty wild and nobody dressed for the stage as badly as they did.
However, they didn’t choose these flashy clothes to gain more attention from the audience. They had to choose them because of the tax laws of Sweden. A costume’s cost would be subtracted from taxes if it was too ridiculous and impractical to wear outside.

During the shooting process, she was performing for the crew of a ship in that attire. Her costume and the video were deemed inappropriate and were even banned from TV. MTV did show it, but they only broadcast it after 9 p.m. A less revealing version of the video was released after the scandal.
