8 Actors Who You Didn't Know They Are Trilingual, Quadrilingual

Speaking more than one language can come in handy. It's an extremely good life skill to have. Many may not have noticed that many prominent Hollywood stars speak more than simply English. Perhaps it will be a surprise to learn which performers are multilingual and how they acquired a second tongue.

1. Viggo Mortensen

Bradley Cooper is one of Hollywood's heartthrobs, but he is also skilled in the language department. He has been able to conduct interviews fluently in French. Cooper made it his mission to learn the language in a few short months. Within six months, Cooper learned French through Aix-en-Provence. He has done full interviews and has a good accent. Cooper does admit his grammar is a bit on the weak side.

Besides being one of Hollywood's leading men, Bradley Cooper is also a man of considerable linguistic ability. He has conducted interviews in French with ease. Cooper determinedly studied the language and became fluent in just a few months. Aix-en-Provence was the place where Cooper was able to pick up French in just six months. He's done extensive interviews, and his accent is solid. Cooper acknowledges his grammar isn't the strongest.

However, English is not Mila Kunis' native tongue. When she started school in the United States, she was required to take English classes like many other international children. The Soviet Union collapsed, and she and her family emigrated to the United States when she was seven. She doesn't often brag about her Russian speaking abilities, but everyone is in amazement when she does. She defended Justin Timberlake to a Russian reporter during the film's promotion for Friends With Benefits.

Sandra Bullock is not just beautiful but also a multi-crowned queen. The actress's proficiency in German is a hidden fact. Her mom is native German; she met her dad in Nuremberg while stationed there. When Bullock speaks, it's hard to tell her native American. Her acceptance speech at a German awards event was delivered entirely in German, and she received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

He learned it at school and retained enough of it to communicate in it with some degree of fluency. As part of a promotional segment for The Avengers airing on Univision's Good Morning America, he took a break from English. He spoke to the show's Spanish-speaking audience in Spanish. He did confess that his listening skills far outshone his speaking ones. The languages of Greek and French are among those he can speak with some proficiency.

Highmore is a skilled Spanish speaker that often leaves admirers startled with his great accent and pronunciation. He is also able to speak French. When he was advertising August Rush, he used the lingo. Highmore can also communicate in Arabic, thanks to his formal education.

Gwyneth Paltrow has such a perfect Spanish accent and speaks so fluently that she makes some native speakers look bad. She could resume her education from where she left off in Spain after having begun it in New York. Along with Robert Downey Jr., Paltrow flaunted her fluency in French while promoting Iron Man 3. Paltrow is, indeed, a master of many skills.

Ben Affleck, who plays Batman in the DCEU and is also recognized for his roles in Gone Girl, Good Will Hunting, and many more, is fluent in Spanish. Throughout many interviews, he has demonstrated his linguistic talents and somewhat reserved but assured manner of speaking. He picked it up when living in Mexico for a period when he was only thirteen. During promotional events for The Way Back, he mentioned that he could speak better Spanish because he had so many Latino pals. Fans who listen closely may detect his native Mexican accent and the lisp typical of many Spanish speakers.
