This Artist Creates 24 Silly Comics With Random Endings To Brighten Your Day
Do you believe that each of us can become an artist? Yeah...everyone has an artist hidden inside. Sometimes, you don't have to graduate from an art school to become a comic artist. The case of Rusty Epstein is a perfect example of it. Rusty started his career by creating poems, but he has a passion for being a cartoonist when he was a little boy. He finally decided to do it 25 years later.
The ideas of Rusty's comics almost come from the poem that he wrote a few years ago - "She walked with the sun, danced with the moon, and spoke to the stars; honestly, it was super weird." The artist loved the main character so much that he gave her a name and developed a whole little series around her. "I’m currently working on a little series about Moongirl, the obnoxious free spirit we all hate. She’s the sort of person who calls herself a 'solopreneur' or an 'empath' or whatnot." says the man. "I think that specific kind of internet personality is hilarious, so I’m developing a whole series of comics around her — and I’m really happy with how it’s turning out!"
Apart from the series "Moongirl", the illustrator also makes some comics with silly humor and random twists. Although Rusty gets jealous of other artists' talent and hopes he can draw as they do, he considers it a bad habit. Instead, he should focus on what he does well and learn new stylistic things gradually. Many artists create comics that bring people some deeper emotion, but he just wants to put a good chuckle on everyone's face after reading his comics.
When asked about advice for those who want to become an artist, Rusty shares: "just draw every day". It's not ground-breaking advice, but practice is exactly the key to success. "Try new things, and find a style that works for you."
