Wrap a cherry in a rasher of bacon, skewer it with a toothpick, and put it in the oven until the bacon is done. Heaven in your mouth.

#3. Watermelon, bread, and butter

"Cold watermelon and bread and butter, on a hot day. Keep the watermelon in the fridge for a couple of days, so it is really cold, fresh bread of your choice, REAL butter, with flavor. Because the melon is cold, it stops the butter from melting in your mouth, so you must chew until all the flavors blend. If you combine fat, sugar, flavor, and thickening agent, you get ice cream. TRY IT! We grew watermelons by the tons, so this was our treat on a hot day."

#4. Cheddar cheese + grained coffee + honey

“I saw this one in one of Jamie Oliver’s shows. I tried it out and loved it! On a slice of cheddar, put honey and coffee grounds and hop in your mouth. It is bombastic!”

“I understand the American peanut butter and jelly combo. It is unusual on our end of the globe even just to think of it, but it is actually quite delicious."

#6. Pumpkin, meat, yogurt, mint

One of my favorite foods is an Afghan dish called Kaddo Bourani. It consists of pumpkin slices candied in sugar, meat sauce, yogurt and mint. There's a similar dish where the mint leaves are stuffed into ravioli and everything else is dumped on top. If you layer all of these things inside another pumpkin that's been carved into a bowl with a lid, it makes an edible Thanksgiving centerpiece!

#7. Banana and egg

“I was living in a cabin in the woods. I had some bananas that were going over. And some eggs. I fried a cut up banana in butter, added powdered garlic (not garlic salt and not fresh garlic (I tried that later and it isn’t as good). Then I scrambled some eggs into it. Incredible. I don’t expect you to believe me. But try it if you dare. And don’t add salt. It’s the only egg dish that’s better without salt.”

#9. Figs coated in chocolate.

I used to live on a farm, and it had a huge fig tree that produces masses of fruit each September. More than I could possibly ever use. I melted some milk chocolate in a cup. Then dipped each fig in the liquid chocolate, and then to the fridge until the chocolate hardened.”

#10. Grilled eggplant slices with chocolate

“Not the strangest one, but I just tried it out a few hours ago for the first time: grilled eggplant slices (frozen pack kind: once you unfreeze them they are quite nicely dry, they lose their mushy watery trait; and that’s good in this case) covered with melted chocolate on them. The taste is surprisingly great! There are actually proper recipes about this combination.”

#11. Vanilla ice cream, olive oil, and sea salt

One of the tastiest treats started from reading it on a menu thinking to myself, “ew, really?” The waitress insisted we try it and if we did not like it she would pay for it. Since she was so confident about how good this dessert was, I decided to try it. It only took one bite. The smoothness, cold, and creamy sensations as I devoured this first bite had me hooked. It melted in my mouth as I was scooping my next bite. How could something that only included three ingredients be so good?
Ever since then it has been one of my favorite treats as it is so easy to make at home. OK, you are probably asking yourself what this tasty and simple delight is. It is vanilla ice cream, olive oil, and sea salt.
