The Star Lord certainly had some fun while filming Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, he had so much fun playing around that they had to do several takes of some scenes. Chris Pratt added his own sound effects, saying “pew-pew” every time he fired his raygun.

2. Robert Downey Jr Hid Foods Around The Avenger Set - Avenger

Another actor who had fun on the Marvel movie set is Robert Downey Jr. During the making of The Avengers, he would have secret food stacks hidden around the sets and would eat them while filming. Nobody ever found out where he hid them. Apparently, every time you see the Iron Man eating something, it was 100% unscripted.

3. Michelle Pfeiffer Put A Real Bird In Her Mouth - Batman Returns

In one scene of Batman Returns, Catwoman threatens to swallow the Penguin's live bird before letting the bird fly out of her mouth. There was no CGI or any tricks back then. She literally had a live bird in her mouth while the camera was rolling. The actress kept the bird in there for four or five seconds, and then she let it fly out. “It was before CGI, it was before digital. It was so quick, it seems like it was an effect," director Tim Burton recalled.

4. Find A Maggot That Had Died Of Natural Causes - The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is one of the greatest movies of our time, but there was one behind-the-scenes fact of this movie that sounds completely absurd. During the film, there was a scene where a character fed a maggot to a crow. But that maggot wasn’t just any normal maggot. It had to be a maggot that had died of natural causes. The American Humane Association made the movie crew find one so they could claim “no animals were harmed in the making of this film” at the end.

Robert De Niro didn’t like the texture of fake money and how it felt in his hand, so he went and insisted on using real money. The crew eventually gave in and the prop master put several thousand dollars of his own money to use. So at the end of each take, everybody had to stay until all the money was counted and returned.

6. Christopher Nolan Became A Farmer While Shooting Interstellar - Interstellar

Christopher Nolan didn’t like the thought of a CGI cornfield, so he went out of his way and grew his own 500-acre cornfield for Interstellar. He spent $100K to grow a cornfield from scratch in Western Canada, where the film was shot. His dedication paid off and the movie was great. Plus, they had a pretty good crop and ended up selling the corn to make back a profit for the budget.

7. Drew Barrymore Called 9-1-1 For Real In Scream - Scream

All the screaming through the phone at the beginning of Scream turned out to be real. Apparently, the prop master was unable to successfully unplug the phone before filming due to a power surge on set. This resulted in Barrymore accidentally calling 911 for real several times and screaming her lungs out, then hanging up. One confused police officer even called back in the middle of one take to ask why they kept calling.

8. Russell Was Never Meant To End Up In The Pool - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes pool sequence with Jane Russell sure was fun to watch. If you have watched the movie, you would know that it ended with the actress pulled from the pool soaking wet from head to toe. But that wasn’t the original idea. Russell was never meant to end up in the pool, but she was accidentally clipped by the dancer’s foot and knocked into the water. Director Howard Hughes ended up keeping it in the final cut of the film because he liked it so much.

9. “Candy” Teacup Made Of Wax - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Speaking of old but gold movies, the scene where Willy Wonka casually took a sip from his teacup and then ate it was so cool back then when you were a child. But little did we know, the “candy” teacup that Gene Wilder takes a bite out of was actually made of wax. He had to chew on it and only get to spat it out at the end of the take.
