30 Black And White Drawings By Derek Evernden That’ll Send A Chill Up Your Spine

The creator of a comic book has the option to devote many hours to one artwork that has numerous panels. But occasionally, one panel is more than enough to express the concept that was intended. The creators, after all, try their best to construct compelling characters, establish intriguing surroundings, and convey their journeys in lovely language. Although many comic book creators create lengthy strips to appease their audience, Derek Evernden does all of this with single-panel works. Let’s see how his plain illustrations convey both deep and lighthearted content in the sections that follow!
When Derek Evernden was younger, he started by imitating Herman and The Far Side. Bogart Creek, his most well-known series, is now five years old. He became too depressed when creating political caricatures of Trump, which in major part caused it to happen. Because political cartoons were not then permitted by The New Yorker’s policy, he began creating dry, thought-provoking single-panel jokes about contemporary societal topics. He does have some ground rules, though, such as refraining from profanity, sexual humor, puns, “relatable” material, and political comedy. He is astounded by how accepting of truly dark, violent, and twisted humor people of all ages and lifestyles seem to be. Black And White Drawings By Derek Evernden are what you should see.
Derek wishes to create art in the style of Jim Unger and Bill Watterson. Most of his humor is centered on the fear of the sky collapsing, but he also pokes fun at the underdog getting their comeuppance, windows into the minds of outcasts and weirdos, the perversion of pop culture idols, etc. He enjoys the concept of fitting everything into that single frame, and if you hold the reader’s hand, you hear a groan. According to him, there are far more benefits than drawbacks to making single-panel comics. The advantage is that there is never a need to hold the story, and you always stare at a fresh blank page with limitless possibilities.
Derek had the good fortune to acquaint himself with Renegade Arts Entertainment as a publisher for his first collection of cartoon drawings. Below, you will see 30 of his cleverly twisted illustrations. If you enjoy his dark comedy as much as we do, visit his website, BOGART CREEK, to find out more. Here we go!
