This Sad News About Inside Out 2 Could Turn Out To Be A Good Sign

Some of the original cast members may not return for Inside Out 2, which may be a good thing for the sequel. Following speculations that an Inside Out sequel was in the works, Pixar formally announced it at D23 2022. The original 2015 film was a massive success and is widely regarded as the best Pixar film of all time. However, there are rumors that Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader would not reprise their roles as Disgust and Fear in Inside Out 2, presumably due to low salary offers from Disney.
Two of the five main emotions in Inside Out are disgust and fear, although Joy (Amy Poehler), and sadness took center stage (Phyllis Smith). Along with Disgust and Fear, Riley's emotions also featured Anger (Lewis Black), but he was more of a supporting emotion. The news that Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling might not appear in Inside Out 2 is undoubtedly disappointing because both of them expertly captured these feelings in the first film. One positive aspect of this growth may be directly related to Riley's maturity and evolving emotional state.
According to the reported low-wage offers for Kaling and Hader, Disgust and Fear may have less of a presence in Inside Out 2 as a result of the addition of new emotions. It has been announced that Riley will be followed in Inside Out 2 as a teenager as she deals with the challenges of puberty and maturing. Teenagers still experience disgust and fear, but the absence of key cast members from Inside Out 2 may be a good sign as it may give way to the prominence of other emotions.

With the addition of new characters and emotions in Inside Out 2, Pixar might reconsider some of its original concepts for the movie. Originally, several emotions were thought to be present, including irritability, pride, envy, greed, depression, despair, and love. It wouldn't be that shocking to see Pixar add new emotions from this list to Inside Out 2. It is simple to imagine how many of the discarded characters could suddenly reappear and take on key roles, depending on the precise emotional journey Riley takes in the sequel.
Love might very well be one of Inside Out 2's new emotions given the movie's emphasis on Riley's adolescent years. The first film hinted that she might start to like someone soon, but the follow-up could now completely explore Riley's love aspirations and show Love gaining access to the reaction console in her mind. Irritation or Envy might also work for a teen-angst section of the plot. Pixar could use Inside Out 2 to highlight mental health and despair in teens by adding Depression to the mix.
