Brave Pod of Dolphins Saved Swimmer From 6-feet Shark By Forming Protective Circle Around Him

Swimming with a school of dolphins is the wildest dream of any marine enthusiast and adventurous diver. Though this experience sounds fantastic, the swimmers may face a risk from myriad dangers lurking under the ocean water. One of the threats comes from sharks, the animals famous for their cruel and cold-blooded disposition.
A 6-feet white shark approached Adam Walker, a swimmer from Nottingham, UK, in his swim with a pod of dolphins on the coast of New Zealand.

The callous animal swam under Adam when he was about to finish the 16-mile swim across Cook Strait. Before the journey, his friend insisted that sharks never appeared in this region, so he was baffled when seeing the animal.
“I happened to look down and saw a shark a few meters underneath me,” Adam shared on his YouTube channel. “I tried not to panic as I have an objective to successfully swim across.”

When the swimmer strived to stay calm and composed, he realized the dolphins surrounded him as a protective ring to scare the shark away.
“I’d like to think they were protecting me and guiding me home. This swim will stay with me forever.”

Dolphins were well-known for their effective strategy to deal with sharks by banding with each other in the school. Therefore, no one could be sure that the brave dolphins intentionally defended Adam against the shark. However, the dolphin ring had made the brutal predator go away.
“I can’t say whether the dolphins came as a pod to my aid as they can’t speak to me, however, I can say that after a few minutes the shark disappeared and the dolphins stayed with me for another 50 mins which was an amazing experience,” said Adam. This must be a one-of-a-lifetime experience that he could never forget.

The swimmer shared that the most important tip when facing sharks is to keep a cool head. He had encountered these frightening animals when he swam in Hawaii and the Tsugaru channel in Japan.
