The 8 Most Terrible Celebrity Hotel Guests

When you check into a hotel room, you give the front desk your credit card as a kind of insurance policy against damages and chances are that the most destruction you've ever caused was when you raided the mini-bar.
However, that's not how some celebrities operate. Since the 1960s, when The Who's drummer celebrated turning twenty by disrobing and plowing a car into a swimming pool, the bar for successfully trashing hotels has been raised.
Even though the harm to suites today is still terrible, some claim that the barometer for rock and roll room trashing is steadily decreasing. Reality stars and manufactured pop artists are more likely to leave behind trash and cigarette burns than broken TV sets and works of art.
The hotel industry is full of interesting stories about what can happen when a boldface name books a room, from legendary Surrealists to '70s rock icons to kid actors-turned-troublemakers. Below are just a few of them.

#1 Lindsay Lohan

After accruing a shocking $46,350.04 in unpaid hotel charges in 2012, Lohan was banned from LA's opulent Chateau Marmont, where she had been residing. For her part, she believed the filmmakers of Liz and Dick, the movie she was shooting at the time, were responsible for paying the bills. Only a few months later, the actress allegedly damaged the W New York Union Square for $50,000 and was told by an insider that she wouldn't be allowed to return. And those are just two incidents; she is also allegedly unwelcome at the Shutters on the Beach Hotel in Santa Monica.

#2 Florence Welch

Florence Welch mentioned this in 2012: "I think I must have had about 17 dirty martinis, I lost my phone and ripped my dress very badly. I accidentally set fire to The Bowery Hotel because I’d left a cinnamon tea light burning. I came back to the hotel, passed out in my ripped dress — no phone, chipped tooth — came ‘round and there was black stuff all over the wall, my book had melted on the bedside table and there was a bucket of water on the floor. Actually the last scene you want to wake up to with a hangover. Half the room was singed. " She claimed that the damage only cost a few hundred dollars.

#3 Keith Moon

On Moon's 21st birthday, the band decided to throw a wild party at the Holiday Inn in Michigan. The police were called after the group trashed the hotel's interior, destroying furniture and starting a food fight when a girl jumped out of a cake. Moon, however, was not prepared to call it a night and instead did what any quick-witted rock star would do: he ran through the hotel lobby while naked, and drove a Lincoln Continental into the swimming pool. The price of Moon's mess? A 24-hour jail sentence, a $24,000 hotel damage tab, and a lifetime prohibition from staying at another Holiday Inn.

#4 Keith Richards

Keith Richards, the guitarist for the Rolling Stones, set the standard for bad behavior in 1972 while staying at what was then the Hyatt West Hollywood in Los Angeles. Richards decided to throw the hotel's television out the window from the tenth floor. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

#5 Mariah Carey

The items on Mariah Carey's list include two vases of white roses, eight "tall, leafy plants," Joe Malone vanilla candles, and drapes around every edge.
Furthermore, drapes must be used in every room (black drapes are fine). There should be about 75 degrees inside, and the entry door should open into the living room, not the dressing room.

#6 Rihanna

The singer demands "icy-blue chiffon"-layered drapes in blue or black. In addition, Rihanna has a very specific candle request and needs a throw rug with an animal print (Leopard, Cheetah). She will walk on it barefoot, so the rug needs to be perfectly clean.

#7 Taylor Swift

The size of Taylor Swift's tour buses is comparable to a dorm room. Just be sure to stop at Starbucks on the way if she's expected to arrive before 11 a.m. and pick up 1 Grande ICED Caramel Latte with 2 Sweet-n-Lows, 1 Grande ICED Americano with 2 Sweet-N-Lows with Soy Milk, and 1 slice pumpkin loaf.

#8 Will Ferrell

Comedian Will Ferrell's promotional comedy tour for "Semi-Pro" may have won the title for the most terrible hotel guest with his most bizarre requests. He asked for an electric scooter, a painted rainbow on wheels, and a fake tree that was 15 feet tall.
