Why Dr. Manhattan Is The Most Powerful Beings From DC Comics?

Dr. Manhattan debuted in DC Comics with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen in 1986. Since introduced, he has remained one of the most powerful beings in the whole universe with notable superpowers. 
His appearance in HBO’s Watchmen adaptation is essential and contributes a lot to the storyline of this series. In this article, let’s get to know this character more. 

#1. His Early Age

His name was Jonathan Osterman when he was born. He is a son of a German-American watchmaker. Initially, he and his father planned for his becoming a watchmaker, a successor to his father. However, when Jonathan was 16, the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Then, his father wanted him to be an atomic physicist. 
He successfully graduated from Princeton with a Ph.D. and started studying in intrinsic fields. Later on, he met Janey Slater and developed a romantic interest in her. They also started dating at that time.
One day, Jonathan accidentally left her watch in the intrinsic field chamber. Coming back to claim it was the turning point of his life. The particle cannons destroyed him into non-existence. 

#2. His Revival As A New Identity

After two months, his re-materialization starts to happen. Eventually, he regains a full body with incredible powers and strength. He can manipulate matter, use telekinesis, teleport, and be clairvoyant. His knowledge of the past, present, and future becomes one. At the same time, he becomes an immortal, indestructible being.
However, Dr. Manhattan does not succeed in getting Slater back. He teams up with the U.S. government in several missions. One of them is to stop Vietnam War. Later, The Minutemen recruits him as a superhero of the team together with several other superheroes. 
Laurie Juspeczyk (Silk Specter) is one of his companions. They have a quite strong attachment to each other. However, after many incidents such as the deaths of the Comedian and Manhattan's ex-wife, this bond has been broken. Manhattan eventually leaves Earth to reside on Mars. However, Juspeczyk convinces him to return to Earth.

#3. Events After Watchmen

Once again, he leaves Earth to travel across different universes. He contacts other superheroes from DC Comics, consisting of Flash and Superman. Manhattan has a belief that Superman will destroy the whole universe. Most recently, he appeared in The Batman Who Laughs. Batman accidentally recreates the incident that gave Manhattan his powers, leading to the formation of The Darkest Knight. 

#4. His Ability

He is the most powerful creature from DC Comics so far with no doubt. He is unharmable with crazy invulnerability, durability, strength, and countless special abilities. Compared to the strongest member of the Justice League, Manhattan might easily destroy Superman with his powers. Once he debuts to the DC Extended Universe, other heroes will be completely incomparable. How to defeat this man is still the biggest question that currently, there is no answer yet.
