Epilepsy is a chronic noncommunicable brain condition that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures. But what exactly are seizures? They are brief bursts of spontaneous movement that might affect either a portion of the body (partial) or the entire body (generalized), and they can occasionally be followed by loss of consciousness and control over bowel or bladder function. This is a list of celebrities you didn't know they had epilepsy that might surprise you.
Not all seizures are caused by epilepsy. Seizures can be caused by a brain injury or a genetic feature, although the reason is often unclear. The terms "epilepsy" and "seizure disorders" are interchangeable. It says nothing about the source or severity of the person's seizures.
