Sibling rivalry is a common family dynamic. As siblings, we love each other, but would also bite each other's heads off if we felt like it. Or, if our “beloved” siblings happen to spend 5 minutes too long in the bathroom.
That being said, most of us eventually grow out of this state. The childish pettiness dies quickly. Some of us even learn to love our siblings more for the things that made us crawl at each other's throats in the past.
But some never grow out of it. There are plenty of stories out there of siblings who hold grudges against each other for years for the most trivial of reasons. Worse, some siblings never learn to love each other at all. They simply hate each other.

It may seem cliche, but all too often, hate is the result of love, or rather, a love triangle. Randy met Alejandra in 1986, and while the two never married, they did have two children.
