Before popularizing his works due to the pandemic, he had always shared them with peers and family. His major inspiration for doing art comes from the influence of cartoonists Kris Straub and Bill Watterson. “I have a lot of respect for other artists who can pull so much out of a single image.” The goal of his comic art is to make people feel hyped up.
He believes that having too many ideas in mind remarkably prolongs his creating process. “It might take me three to ten hours to finish the comic.” If only he simplified his sketching, it’d be more regular for his work to be produced. Like most comic artists, he’s faced quite a lot of ups and downs throughout the comic-making journey. Frustrations, fatigue, and over-expecting are among the biggest matters to Daniel. “Sometimes I do have to take a step back and just spend some time on myself.”
Murrell’s comic features humans in realistic depictions. And the artist appreciates his supporters so much that he never thinks of giving up creating greatly amusing works. “I’d say that it is where I’m the happiest.” He always falls on the deaf ears when facing offensive comments on his works as it is healthiest to move forward.
