What To Do When Neighbors Hate Cats And Launch A Bunch Of Noisy Deterrents That Disturbs Others?

We believe that anyone of us has memorable souvenirs about at least one annoying neighbor (if someone doesn't, then that person is quite a lucky one). Before diving into the story we're about to share today, we would love to ask you to imagine. You were sitting under the sunlight on your patio with your lovely cat, and next, you heard an ear-splitting sound that petrified your furball and almost broke your simple pleasure into pieces. What would you do afterward?

In case you still wonder about it, a woman got stuck in a similar situation and decided to consult it online. Using her Mumsnet account name Zelfaba, she pinned her story on the spicy topic AIBU? (Am I being unreasonable?) to tell about her weird next-door neighbors who were a between-fifty-and-sixty-year-old couple. They hated the felines and had installed a bunch of cat deterrents in their front and back yards, which drove the original poster insane thanks to these devices' ear-irritating high-pitch noises.

Therefore, the OP politely asked the elder couple to do something about it. They promised they would, however, the ugly sound didn't stop but went off even diurnally louder. Hence, she was so frustrated that she had an urge to pump into the next-door house and get these troublesome machines removed, but she was afraid of becoming a complaining over-reacting neighbor that everyone disliked.

Mumsnetters didn't find the OP unreasonable, yet they didn't blame the next-door couple either. They supposed the neighbors turned age and might have lost the ability to detect high-pitch vibrations. Plus, they didn't appear to be rude so it would be okay for the OP to have another little chat with them to discuss solutions that worked for both. She had the right to speak up for herself. Besides, nothing would solve itself if everybody remained silent.

People in the comment section below the pinned post hoped the OP and her neighbors could figure things out and keep living in peace. Some cat people claimed it was better to throw the deterrents away because they were useless and provoking. Meanwhile, others recommended several high-tech devices that worked for animals but not humans. The OP followed the advice and searched for some brands so that she could offer her suggestion when she came to talk with the next-door couple again.
